Car Audio Problems
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this. As I was taking a turn one day suddenly my sub-woofer just turns off. I'm running 2 amps, 1 for my speakers and 1 for my sub. I checked all 3 capsule fuses powering the amps; both amps still receive power and I checked the RCA plugs + the rest of the wires on the amp for the sub + wires going into the sub. Still no sound for subwoofer, ideas? BTW the other amp powering the speakers functions properly.

Without actually having the car in front of me....it might be a bit harder to help....
Possibly the wire inside the enclosure came loose?
If you have glass AGU fuses, somethimes they "look" good, but actually will not pass current. The element has lost contact with the end....which you cannot see.
You could try swithching the RCAs from the front amp to the sub amp, just to verify the RCA is good.

u might want to re-do the ground wire as well, could be a bad ground.... double check all the wires.... especially the ones inside of the sub enclosure....
Just now saw where my thread went. So I narrowed it down and although the amp powering the subwoofer is putting out power it 'blew' another sub I just bought after 2 minutes. I asked a friend of mine that is big into car audio and he said that the amp is bad since it's sending bad signals to the sub causing them to go bad. BTW the 2 amps I have are running off a dist. block so they both have their own power source & fuse. Also could my capacitor have anything to do with any of this madness?
so you dropped a different sub into the box, and after a very short time it blew the sub? sounds to me like you just over powered the crap out of the sub. because even at clipped signal if its close to rated power you would have a few more mins than 2 to blow the sub.
but I will say that the amp your running will only realisticly do around 1500 rms at best. and considering you said you were running a cap. and not a second battery, and that your 4 ch is run also off that power line, your probably dropping close to 12 volts if not lower. Be careful with that amp because they have a tendancy to not like anything below 12.4 volts. and with enough time played below that voltage you will end up blowing the amp.
now if you want to replace that amp, and you are looking for power around 1500 rms or up. I'd try the AP15001D.
its an audiopipe amp 1500 rms at 1 ohm and 3000 peak. and believe it or not It WILL DO RATED POWER. and its not that big of a power hog. Many fellow competitors of mine are switching to these amps. and you can strap this amp to a second ap amp to get 3000 rms at 2 ohms. I don't know what your budget is for the other amp, but the subs sells on ebay from 150-180 shipped. Not too bad considering the hifonics amp puts out dirty signal and is close to 2x's the price.
Mods- High flow cat, Flowmaster stage 2 exhaust, Intake, Lots of wiring upgrades, h/o alt, 2 18's walled, off 8000 rms custom interior VERY LOUD (152.3) on music and a 156.6 outlaw.( system sounds alot like this!!!
Well the amp I have is actually nothing great, just an old Rockford Fosgate that is rated like 300 watts (RMS) x 1 or something like that so yeah nothing powerful at all. The subwoofer completely just died, doesn't make any noise & I wasn't even playing it very loud either. Now I wouldn't now if my amp is getting a stable voltage or not but I do know that the amp still power on & puts on power. I mean I've been running 2 amps and with this setup for years and just all of sudden experiencing problems; more so with the amp for the sub. Any more suggestions? Thanks!
