i see the picture...but who said it was bondo? not saying you are wrong, but just seems like it'd be a little too brittle, especially as thick as they needed. they could add or take away hardener but that'd just make it worse...was it really bondo!?

"Bondo™ body fillers are very versatile," said Thom Weber, global business manager for 3M Automotive Aftermarket business. "We've seen many uses in the 60 years this product line has been around, from patching concrete and repairing stucco to fixing wood. All of the 3M fillers, including Bondo, have a unique chemistry designed to adhere to a variety of surfaces. It was the perfect solution in a pinch for the wet, cold concrete at Daytona. While we would not recommend using Bondo™ body fillers on potholes in all cases, we're just glad to have been able to help get the track back to a safe condition so the drivers could have a great finish."

nascar walks the track each day before a race takes place, this has more to do with the amount of water under the track, and the cold weather after nearly half the race was ran, before it happened.they first attempted to fix it with an asphalt patch, but with the cold weather and the water seeping up, it wouldnt settle

also the track hasnt been re paved since the late 70's i think, and when you look at how many races took place this weekend
bud shoot out - 78 laps
    2 gatorade duals - 60 laps a piece
    CWTS race - 100 laps
    Nationwide race - 120 laps
    daytona 500 208 laps
plus qualifying for all 3 series, practices, ect, multiply that by about 110 cars, thats alot of wear on a track of 4-5 days

Yep, Daytona hasn't been resurfaced since 1978. I was there 2 weeks ago for the 24 hour race, 40+ cars on it 24 hours straight...it's bumpy in spots.

The severe temperature changes the last few weeks haven't helped either. The track gets cold at night then hot when cars are on it...contracting and expanding the surface each time. They're planning on resurfacing it in the next 3 years though!

ya they had said they wanted to wait until 2012 to do it, but are in talks of going a head to do it. As far as stock cars go, i think the rough bumpy surface sets the track apart from Talladega, I think when they re pave it will be super smooth, alot like when they repaved Talladega, Will be nice for the 24hours cars though.

this time of year is rough on the track, from the 24 hour race, through the 500 hopefully they figure it out, i love the track
