What was/is your favorite game console and why?
-Ant.
Mine has to be the N64. I loved everything about it. The graphics were bad ass (at the time) and the controller was different than anyones. I loved all the games that came out with it. I still have my original N64 that I bought brand new in the living room where we hold Super Smash Bros. tournaments.

N64 was bad ass, Goldeneye took a lot of my life on 4 player.
I like the 360 and PS3 too, more modern games and I've always liked more sim type stuff.
I prefer a PC over a console though. Better everything IMO.
Sega Genesis:
First console to have Mortal Kombat 1 with blood ported to a home console.
When I was a kid I was so disappointed the SNES version had "sweat" for a blood replacement. When I went to my buddies house ripping someones head off with Sub zeros fatality was awesome on his Genesis.
N64 hands down.
Although it's considered obsolete now, I'd have to say that it revolutionized console gaming as we know.
1) The jump from 32 to 64 bit was a HUGE step.
2) one of the first 4 player gaming consoles.
3) N64 Cartridges was fucking win! no load time, no scratches, no blowing shit.
4) Most ingenious controllers of all time IMO, I mean you can hold that shit like 3 fucking ways. Also Had an adapter slot for my rumble pack and for my pokemon red/blue converter? Need I say more??
5) starcraft before dsl/cable internet lol.
Nintendo released this beast to dominate the PS1 and it did just that. The release of the gamecube as an answer to the ps2 was a fucking fail IMO though.
Sega's Dreamcast was also awesome as well. It was well before its time. Anyone remember powerstone?
N64 it brought multiplayer to games.. and changed everything!! my 2nd was Dreamcast... only because i skipped school to play crazy taxi, and Sega GT lol
PC you fucking pussys! I'll own you all!
N64... brings me back to the days of playing goldeneye, mariocart and donkeykong with my friends

I'm going to go against the grain and say super nes.
I just remember Super Mario world, metroid, donkey kong country 1-2-3, killer instinct etc. To me that was just a huge console leap over regular nes. 16bit was awesome and the games were great.
I never owned a genesis but they never really competed with genesis IMO. Although I remeber mortal kombat blood and sonic the hedgehog.
The best console ever in terms of price and performance i think goes to xbox360. It's price is cheaper and with mass effect 2 it proves even am inferior system and older can still compete with ps3

Dude gi Joe on nes holy fuck. Sick ass game. When I was little my dad would take me to this hole in the wall video rental store (this was way before blockbuster was around) and I rented it. Few years ago I looked for it on eBay apparently it's extremely rare to find I saw people saying it was selling for $150-200 on eBay if you can find it

N64 was big for me. I had played a lot of NES early on in my life. I can still remember starting out with Super Mario & Duck Hunt w/my older sister when I was 3 or 4. then naturally went SNES after that... Zelda: a link to the past, Super metroid, etc. I logged quite a few hours in NFL quarterback club '95, too. lolol. N64 was during my middle school years, so Goldeneye and StarFox consumed most of my "homework" time. lol
N64...can't fuck with it.
I'm gonna go look for mine and play some RUSH hahaha
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.
Genesis, Loved the Games and Music. Point Blank. I hated SNES although some game shad better graphics I felt like SNES copied sega in many ways.
Ps3 an 360 Shouldn't be on the poll since it's past tense.
Leisa and S. 4 Life NM?
It was a tough choice between then SNES and the Dreamcast for me but after much deliberation I went with the SNES. I still have a Dreamcast and tons of games though, including House of the Dead with the light gun!!! Picking the 360 or the PS3 seemed too obvious so i tried to go a little more old school with my choice...
Yeah for some reason I have a blank spot when n64 came out. I remember my cousin having it and I remember playing duke nukem, Mario world, and iirc Mario kart. I played killer instinct gold on it too.
But for some reason I don't remeber owning one or buying wanting one and I can't remember why.
I just know junior year in high school when metal gear solid came out I got a ps1 for Xmas

I vote PS3 due to the fact all the well rounded games coming out this year will put it ahead of the competition. WKC, GT5, FFXIV, Darksiders, GOWIII, MAG, and of course the blu ray, wifi, free online play, computer browser and what not. It's an all around entertainment system not just gaming.
ps2, just bc of Amplitude, GT3 and the metal gear solids.
still pay them to this day.

id have to go with sega genesis, great games and i still have mine that i got for xmas when i was like 7,still works like brand new too.
SNES all the way. Tons and tons of great games. Some of the best RPGs ever (Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Secret of Mana), and one of my favorite of all times racing game (Rock N' Roll Racing).
I also had a N64, but got my first PC around the same time and never really was into consoles the same way again.
NES b/c it really exploded the game industry and most of us nerds still play those games through emulators like mame.
Paul "your bullshit makes the flowers grow"
SNES was awesome. N64 was pretty badass when it came out, especially playing games like goldeneye. Sega Saturn was cool for a bit, too.
N64 MULITPLAYER FTMFW!!!!!!
Other...
Gameboy>>>all systems
I've got to go with a timeless classic...the Atari 2600. I got one when it was brand new and stayed up for hours playing the games. As basic as they are now, you would not believe the rush you got playing them then. A local Treasury Drug Store (now Rite Aid) had a rack of these games they sold for $1. I would buy about 5 games per week. This has to be my favorite. Later, QD.
Super Nintendo.
Bomberman, Madden 95, the entire street fighter series. Fatal Fury. Super Nintendo had an arsenal of great games.
sega saturn! for the 3 months it was alive
