    Default Lane Kiffin to USC

Thats right, after just ONE season as the head coach for Tennessee, Lane Kiffin jumped ship to head to Southern Cal. So much for building a dynasty at UT.

Kiffin would replace Pete Carroll, who jumped to the NFL as coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Kiffin, the former Oakland Raiders coach, led the Volunteers for only one season.

According to the sources, Kiffin will bring his father and defensive coordinator, Monte Kiffin, and assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron to Southern Cal with him, and wide receivers coach Kippy Brown will be named interim head coach at Tennessee.

I heard before it was announced. A kid going through rush is staying at Mike Hamiton's house (UT Sports head), texted my friend (DarkG) and told us all about it. It is a fucking riot up here cops everywhere, athletes were throwing furniture off their dorm balcony, couches burned, and the rock (which students are allowed to paint on) has a message for Lane Kiffin. It's Time, to get the fuck out.

    My personal thoughts....

He wouldn't do his press conference until all cameras were taken out of the athletics building, he would not take/answer questions but would make a statement. If you are going to change that easily you should have the balls to own up to it, he obviously lacks this sack. He fucked us, we had a top 5 recruiting class which will probably go to shit. We have no real good coaches to hire and also need to fill Monty Kiffin's spot.

His trash talking will honestly fit him better out west, however I would of really like him to skip his douchbaggery move and stay this year. We have Oregon, Alabama, and Florida at home, this season ought to be a fucking joke.

Ohh yeah here was a picture of the rock that was painted on campus...

I personally like the comment about Layla Kiffin sucks dick. I'd let her do it. Google her lol.

This is almost just as bad as when Petrino left the Falcons. The only plus is that Tennessee can get a real coach now. I was looking forward to Kiffin staying because before long Tennessee would have been on probation for recruiting violations with all the dumb moves he pulled. Now you guys may actually have a chance of winning some big games. I always felt Tennessee should have went after Charlie Strong from Florida as their next head coach.

I really want Boise State's coach, will it happen. Very very doubtful.

The interm coach is not that bad of an idea because we will have plenty of time to find a new coach. It will also fuck us harder on the recruiting class but who cares it is already fucked right now

That has no chance of happening. He just signed an extension and I'm pretty sure they have him locked into it. I think a good fit for Tennessee would be Randy Edsall from UConn. He's done a really good job with that team and he wants to coach at a bigger school.

Yeah, I cant remember WHAT the job was, but Petersen had a change to leave Boise for a "better" job a few years ago, but he declined. ESPN said they tried to get Muschamp from Texas, but IMO he'd be a fool to leave there. That is his team when Mack Brown finally decides to leave. They talked about Troy Calhoun from Air Force, but he is a spread option type of coach and I dont see that working in the SEC.

Billy, you know who their top choice for the interim coach is right?

Any truth to the ESPN talk about bringing Fat Phil back for the interim?

It is Kippy Brown that is the interim coach (whose resume is actually fairly strong)

    No, Fulmer won't be back.

I really feel like the hire will be from the Vol Family (Cutcliffe), but they will lobby hard for Muschamp.

ESPN keeps reporting that Alumni Board Members are reaching out to Phil to accept the position as either the AD or to be the head coach again.

No way Phil will be back especially as AD. What a coaching nightmare, Phillip Fulmer in the new coach.

The alumni love Fulmer but it's not happening. Troy Calhoun is a big possible.

You really think the spread offense would work in the SEC? Triple option style offense like Calhoun runs?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Tech's offense pretty much walked all over everyone this year, but when they faced UGA who has some speed on D, they struggled to put up 20 points.

Im just curious to see who will come out of the woodwork to coach at UT.

First off, I think Kiffen is a douche for leaving after only 1 year.

Now, I am not at all surprised he left for USC and I think its the only school that he would have left for. He got his first major coaching shot at USC and he played there. It was his dream job. Talking to a few friends at work on Monday after Carroll was officially the Seahawks coach I said USC was going to call Kiffen and that the only reason Kiffen wouldnt take the job was if he wanted to shut up Saban, Meyer and Spurrier.

    2. Everyone saying that Kiffen is running away is on crack. He went through this year and put the swagger back into Tenn. Thats something that was missing for the last couple years under Fulmer. He had OK talent on campus, but it wasnt anything to brag about. If he stayed through year 3 he would have won the SEC easily and would have probably been the NCG. He may be arrogant and enjoy getting under people's skin, but combined with pops, they are the best coaching staff in the country and no one else is even close. Give Monte Kiffen a decently talented and smart group of DB's and he will have any QB in the country paralyzed with confusion when he tries to read the Tampa 2. Add that to a good group of DL and LB's and you have a dominant defense. Give Lane some time with an offense and you get the same results, domination.

    3. In 3 years, people will have to try to remember who Pete Carroll was. It will be Kiffen Stadium in 20 years.

He put the swagger back in Tennessee? False. False, he barely got the flint going and blew out the flame before it became a bonfire.

This was the same tech offense that walked all over UGA last year.

I dont agree. I got to see quite a bit of Tenn this year and they were nothing like the team last year, especially towards the end of the year when Crompton actually put a couple decent games together and got the offense moving. I'm not saying Tenn was a world beater with the swagger of a team like Texas or Bama, but they were playing with confidence in themselves as a team.

I went to every game this year and the only reason we looked better this year was due to the fact that Fulmer was gone (no running on 3 and 57 to go) and Crompton does better rolling out of the pocket.

he's a weasel, i rank him right up there with petrino...

especcially when his signiture games this year were "almost" beating florida and alabama.

i was holding out my decision on him until 3 seasons had past and i was optimistic after this season.

i wouldnt mind seeeing cutcliff back

Considering Tenn was a 3-9 team the year before, I thought he got everything out of every player on the field.

What was up with Fulmer? He used to be an outstanding coach. You think he just got too conservative?

What are you basing this off of? I cant think of a single available coach that is even close to the Kiffens.
