I have only painted pieces of cars. I am in Maxwell HS in Auto Collision class and we learn how to paint cars and such... really complicated if u want to look nice.

    - i recommend - dont do it yourself unless it is a primer or short term paint -

lot of stuff needed for a nice paint job.

if u take it to a shop - i would sand it down myself... problem with most shops they dont properly sand down the vehicle only take off your existing clear coat so it will have a surface to stick too. need to get all paint off really for a nice paint job.

Vinh wheres your shop at homey? I have a 1964 impala I'll be ready to paint in a few weeks, just getting all the new molding together...

body is in real good shape, very straight, little/no rust.. what would you say it would cost to strip/paint the car? Its flat black right now and I want to go w/ a metallic black..

I would never use walmart paint I would go to your local parts store and if they have a paint departmant I would either go with house of color or dupont. 2 best car paint around. I would also do a custom mixed paint so you can have your own paint idea.

If you want a good looking paint job, go with some of these guys ^ and get it done. But if you want a learning experience... paint it yourself. I painted mine in my garage. It was my first time painting actually and it didnt turn out too bad. I didnt have much money, so i built my own paint booth and sprayed it with a good gun and compressor i had. PM me if you want all the details and pics.
