nice pic
..... bit full of yourself, eh?
To jhadleyh:
The SD1000 is a good ultra-compact camera. Just remember that ultra-compact cameras have limitations that larger cameras are better at overcoming. Most notably:
-Limited image quality
-Very limited range for built in flash
-Poor low light performance
-Limited zoom range (usually 3x)
I am not full of anything, I have used many camera's and know what is possible with better equipment. Personally I just am a little bit more into videography and would rather spend money on that right now. I was in no way trying to come off as some bada or anything I just know with an upgrade I could produce amazing photographs.
Also yes the point and shoots are not anything compared to a nice DSLR. However I equipped mine with CHDK and can have way more options than others.
- Save images in RAW format
- Ability to run "Scripts" to automate the camera
- Live histogram (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel)
- Zebra mode (blinking highlights and shadows to show over/under exposed areas)
- An "always on" full range Battery indicator
- Ability to turn off automatic dark-frame subtraction
- a higher compression movie mode, and double the maximum video file size
- exposure times as long as 65 seconds
- exposure times as little as 1/10,000 of a second
- ability to use the USB port for a remote trigger input
Not the same as your ordinary p&s!.
Rest assured, that using 3rd party firmware doesn't give the camera any new capabilities. You're still stuck with the same lens, same apertures and same image sensor
Any point & shoot with a full manual mode can do everything you listed (and more)
awesome pic!
cadi cts rollin.

Nothing wrong with confidence, but the photo you put up isn't representative of the skills you claim to have. That's all I am getting at.
