Default Cleaned the interior/cut the shifter, ready for the weekend

    Full race, yo.

    Black Camaro SS leather :idb:

B&M homoshifter was about 2" too long. Yes, that is 2" shorter than it was; my hand hit the radio when shifting into 1st/3rd/5th/reverse.

Your hand was hitting the radio because that fucking shift knob is huge.

Ahhh fisher-price-looking GM interiors... I cut my Kirban shifter down about an inch, I don't know why they make them so long.

If you lengthened the bottom of the shifter it wouldn't have as much travel right?

I don't know how his Camaro is, but this is all there is to an aftermarket shifter for my car. Never heard of anyone lengthening the bottom of a shifter...

Lengthening the bottom of the shifter BELOW the axis point is what qualifies it as a "short shifter". With RWD's you have a problem with the driveshaft so you can't make it too much longer though. Shortening the top actually makes the throw LONGER.

Well considering it has to fit inside this box, you can't make the bottom much longer at all. I bought a short-shifter then cut the top end about an shorter.

If it's spaced it can be made longer

Cutting the top won't do much, the bottom of the shifter needs to be lengthened to reduce time between shifts.

    Car looks good btw.

Bingo but that's difficult to do if the shifter goes directly into a shifter box or the transmission instead of a linkage. That just means the axis point needs to be raised so the botton can be lengthened.

It's a B&M short shifter, the throw is short, the shifter is long. I was just reducing the height, due to my hand hitting the radio. I'm not worried about shortening the actual throw anymore.

    Thanks!
