    Default Piecing together a PC

Got about $700 to spend. This is the best I've come up with so far. Anyone got thoughts? Advice? Haven't really been keeping up with the technology so I just added what I thought looked the best.

Pretty similar to my build actually. I even used the Antec 300 although i did use a OCZ power supply instead of an antec. Youve gotta be careful with p/s selection since the 300 is a bottom mount p/s case (which i do like ALOT). I used the Biostar TForce ta790gx mobo with 8gb of 1066 g.skill ram and also i used two of those hitachi 500gb drives but in a raid configuration. I also used a geforce gts 250 instead of an ATI card.

Honestly i built it about 4 months ago and i dont remember lol. I didnt buy everything through newegg but i did get the mobo/proc/ram from them. I got the case and drives etc through microcenter locally. I find usually with newegg their mobo/cpu combos are better deals than their mobo/memory combos

If it were me, I'd start with about $250 on a motherboard/CPU combo and grab something with the new quad cores. Then I would build from there...

you have the right idea on your cpu, case, and RAM,but check this out if you're wanting to get a great video.it will cost you a little over $80 less for this card.

on the HD,hitachi is not known for making the best or most reliable HDs in the market.WD however is,and with the money you save on the video card, you can spend a little of that on this drive and get the same space and DOUBLE the cache!!

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136320

the total of your purchase with what you were wanting to do is $754.89.doing it withthe better video card and hard drive, your price comes out to be $721.95.you save a little over $30 doing it that way instead of the newegg "combo special" way.

also, the processor you picked out is easily overclockable and cxan be made to run the same as the new X4 965.you just have to go in and set the multiplier to 17 to get the same performance as the new 965 that is said to be a 3.4GHz.good luck with your build!!

Depends on your timeline. If you can hold out for a couple weeks I'd pick up a new Core i5 over the Phenom. Pricing should be very similar.

So I went and ordered everything:

    Asus DDR3/CrossFire Mobo
    Phenom II Black 3.2 x4
    HIS ATI 4890
    4gb patriot extreme gamer DDR3
And the rest is trivial (HD, PSU, Case, DVDR)
