I've used Memphis since before they were Memphis. I have always loved them.![]()
never had a problem out of memphis, if you do go alpine get the nicest stuff you can find with a warranty... memphis has a free lifetime warranty

I <3 Memphis...even though my system is all kicker. lol
get whatever is cheaper, because neither are going to sound very good on a stock h/u with no amp. they are both quality products.
Who knows?
alpine type r would need an amp, otherwise you will underpower them with a head unit

stock head units suck, if your going to spend that much on speakers atleast get a nice head unit too

i eventually will get a head unit, i just dont want to spend the money now because i have onstar and a harness for that is like another 100 bucks. stupid onstar...
LOL, good ole Axxess GMOS interfaces.
Memphis and Alpine have good SQ and will do the job. M-Class is their higher end so you need to compare it Alpine's higher end too. Both manufacturer's make entry level up to the higher end.
Depending on your stock speakers and how new the vehicle is, you may have better sound than your stock ones or it may be the same. Quality music really comes into play when they are amp'd. Aftermarket head unit may provide slightly better clarity depending on the unit choosen, but won't be much different from the stock one.
yeah, my cars a 2009 i bought it a couple months ago so it's all still new.
do yall carry memphis?
i would suggest just waiting til you can do it right with an amp.

Not yet. Memphis is not a big seller because of the higher price tag...same as JL Audio. Everyone wants it, but nobody wants to pay the jacked up price. I would love to bring in some of the highend brands, but unless they are going to move, what is the point. Right now, car audio is slow for most shops. I sell a preety high amount in car audio/video products, but that is only because of my wholesale pricing.Originally Posted by Nguyen128

In your area, Area 41 is an authorized Memphis dealer.
If you are willing to drive to Cumming, then American Radio is the place.
Memphis has the Power Reference (PR) series coax in the $80 range, the M-Class in the $130 range, and M-sync in the $300 range. I am not sure I would consider $80 "higher price tag" for a set of coax speakers...
I guess that is another of the (perceived) differences between brands that are dealer-direct only versus brands that are available at every distributor in the region.
If I brought it in, I would only bring in the higher end lines from Memphis. That is like me saying I am bringing in JL Audio and only stock W0 or W3.Originally Posted by redgst97
So yeah, $300 for speakers or $600+ for a sub is a higher price tag. I am in the business of making money, not having stuff sit around and look pretty.
i just got my front and rear in from gwinnett sound. i know audio unlimited carries them too over in snellville. but i got the memphis m class in the front and back they sound great except i need an amp, they're under powered right now.
i don't know that i would compare memphis prices to jl's, from what i have seen (just me personally) for equivalent stuff, JL's are much more expensive. I just recently purchased a memphis PR1000.1 class d mono-block for like $329 retail. A 1000 watt JL slash series amp listed out at $999 when I called! Granted, the JL amp has the R.I.P.S. stuff, but I have a sub ohm load of 1 ohm anyways, so that would just be money wasted.
Who knows?
depends on what class of amp. i think the pr are a step up from the street edge, which are cheap like 150 bucks? the m class amps are pricey depending on the level. i looked at the cheapest m class amp it was like 450? not sure what level of m class though.
the pr1000 is a killer amp at a great price. i run mine at 1 ohm all day long

i have always been a alpine man, no way would i be happy with memphis im alpine all the way.
yes i am....
lol where do you work?Originally Posted by blacknightteg
out of morbid curiosity, what has you so convinced that memphis wouldn't be up to your standards? i agree that alpine makes some of the best headunits available to the normal consumer, but seeing as how memphis only makes amps and speakers im not really sure why you would think they are of inferior quality....Originally Posted by THEONE

i understand that, i also have a memphis belle 1300D which at the time was their flagship amplifier. the Power Reference is about the best bang for the buck amp I have ever found though, because at roughly $.30/watt they are extremely cheap while still actually delivering rated power in a nice, clean, durable package.Originally Posted by Nguyen128

ive always been a big fan of alpine i have had memphis subs before 15's and they were loud and made my vision blurr when they hit they were cool, but there is just something about alpine that i like i guess its just preference not saying that its better than anything out there its just my opinon .if you are a memphis fan thats great, but me im alpine all the way.Originally Posted by Identity_Crisis

oh im not loyal to anything but performance for the money lol. the only thing i'm partial to is JL subs, but honestly that is based off of looks and that little "wow" factor they have. i was just curious as to the comment that you wouldn't be happy with anything from memphis.
Who knows?
so are you saying that you prefer alpine amps, speakers, and subwoofers compared to the same apples to apples line from memphis?
type-s compared to power reference... alpine wins
type-r to m-class i'll take memphis
type-x to mojo....no doubt memphis
because like identity crisis previously said, memphis doesn't make headunits
for my money....i'll take memphis...most of the time

anyone know the differences between the memphis c3, cm, and m3?

the mojo is clearly big daddy tops
the cm i think has now jumped over the m3 in the lineup and can take up to 1500 peak
the m3 will take about 1000 peak 500 rms, although i feel like the m3 is about to be phased out
and the c3 is the little bro to the m3
they nice part about memphis is that all of those are rebuildable with the cartridges from memphis, its only like 4 bolts and when bought from an authorized dealer like gwinnett sound and audio unlimited they are very good when it comes to their warranty

Mojo and M3 are 2008 models.
CM3 and C3 are 2009 models.
M = Mojo
C = Cast
So, the CM3 is the new Mojo, and the C3 is the new M3.
Power handling went up a bit from last year. At this point, we (American Radio) have yet to get our hands on any of the CM3 or C3 woofers. We still have a few M3s and Mojos available.
Also, FYI, the carbon-ish faces M-Class woofers have changed a bit as well. They were "combined" with the M1 (which was discontinued). You get the seal ability of the M-Class, with the power handling of the M1. Pretty cool woofer, actually.
i've looked in a couple places and the only place that has the new cm3 and c3 subs are gwinnett sound i think. i can't decide if i want 2 12" m class subs vs 1 12" c3 any opinions? i know the c3 will be deeper and more clear but 2 m class's will be "louder".
i'd go the c3 route if you have the power for it.
there's nothing wrong about the m-class, i have a single 12. but the c3 is actually louder if thats what you are going for.
if you want low cost and loud, the powere reference would do the trick. in fact i think they (gwinnett sound) has the pr 10's in a slotted box for something like $300...

If you want some good prices, check out www.WoofersETC.com for Memphis.
Haven't looked at all models, but if you the Power Reference the 12" sub for $89 shipped. I have enclosures for it for $40 if you need that since their boxes are $99. $129 total.
The only downfall is no warranty...unless WoffersETC has one on them.
i don't think i'm going with the memphis route anymore, goin to take a look at a jl 10w7 this weekend but who knows.
yeah they do have a package deal it's not bad it might be 2 12" pr but i cant remember
i don't think i'd buy memphis off the internet because even on the memphis site it says they don't deal online and no warranty what so ever.
buy from local brick and mortar stores!
how much power will you have to give the w7? they're hungry but good
house of turbo subarus...its all we'll drive
think i'm gonna get the 1000 watt hybrid memphis amp, i think. 1000 continuous to w7 and 50x4 to the m class speakers.
