    Default PS3 Broke

So I got an error code the other night out of nowhere, 800105f or something like that, a disc read error. While reading around, it seems it's a bitch of a problem and won't just go away.

So it looks, since my warranty is way over, I am going to be taking it apart myself to clean the Blu Ray lense to try that, and if not replace the whole mechanism. Either way it will be cheaper than the supposed $150 I've read Sony wants to fix it, plus I don't want to lose all my data.

Anyone have experience with this issue or repairing their PS3? I also need a Torx Security screwdriver, which seems to not be easy to find. I checked two Wal-Marts and searching online didn't show it at any Home Depot or Lowes, but maybe they do if anyone knows?

I'd appreciate the help, I'm quite annoyed because after every gaming system, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, and now this is the first one to break if it is the case. I did a similar lense clean on the PS2 so I'm hoping that is the only issue.

Where did you find that screwdriver to take off the case, torx security?

And you had the same issue?

    Thanks.

A friend of mine had one, I have no idea where or how he got it...I'll see if I can find something though...But don't get your hopes up. lol And yea same issue.

PS:You can also use a flathead screwdriver that is small enough to fit inside the Torx screw. Probably going to be your best bet.

Go to one of ur local mechanics and ask them when the snap-on tools truck comes by then wait for him on that day and see if he's got that specialty screw driver they have many special screwdrivers but mostly for mechanics but its worth a try.

Or try frys they have tools esp. For electronics lowes/homedepot has general hand tools for everyday use but frys has tools for people who like to fuck around a lot with electronics
