    Default Overheating problem..

alright so i just changed out my tranny, and im having overheating problems. I drained the radiator when i took it out, and i refilled it when i put it back in. Radiator fan comes on, before it NEVER did and i never had this problem. Idles fine, but when start to drive it creeps up and up, and temp gauge gets on hot. What could it be? Water pump? I just did a timing belt also. reps if helped

Sounds like a air pocket. What engine do you have? I see K20 in your username, but they dont use a timing belt.

there are a couple of ways...take your radiator cap off and turn the car on. when the fan comes on, the fluid will go down. add more coolant. do it a few times and you should get rid of the air pockets.

When you are getting the air bubbles out of it, take off the cap and jack up the front of the car in the middle of the car. Or park on a hill. That will help the air get out of the system easier. Or buy a $20 burp bucket from an autoparts store.

Did you mess with any coolant lines when you took the tranny out? Did you take the radiator out?

yea i did mess with the coolant lines. i tried to take the top one off but i didnt even move it really. the bottom line was getting in the way and i was kind of moving it away so i can jack up the tranny. no i didnt take the radiator out but i did drain it.

    ^^^^ true....

if you moved the bottom line, check it. you may have left a bend in it stopping fluid from getting through.
