sf4 challenge mode

i just started playing sf4 again due to connection problems. i downloaded challenge mode. im confused on how the point system works. so far ive noticed everytime you win 3 matches your grade goes up. but what is the purpose and difference between cp and gp.

the higher you get with GP, the higher your grade goes up which means the more tournaments you fight in and more skilled opponents (or cheaper ones depending), and CP is just the scoring for the tournaments. it helps out with the replays and such since thats what they're ranked on. the CP system works as follows: First match, if you win, you get the oppoents GP as your CP. second match, you get your opponents CP and GP combined added to yours, and so forth
