chuck, u were right, that thing is the shit! there any websites that can give me some more info???
www.mp3car.com , just go to the forums there.
i just ordered my screen today, now i need to get a case and amp.
hey chuck. what screen did you order??? lemme know if you need some links for some stuff.
i cant wait till i finish mine!! i should be done next week.
its a dynamix 7 inch, its the same as the t-View and invotek, just a different label, but its a newer one that a little brighter than the old ones. it's the only thing i've gotten so far, i'm just going to mess around with it at home so i can figure out all the programs. i was looking at cases and power supplies today, but i think i am going to wait to get the car to figure out where i want to put the computer and what shape case i want.Originally Posted by 5thgcelica
good screen man.
i love mine. i ended up getting a shuttle XP case. its nice small size, good power. and very quiet. depending on what kinda money you wanna spend, you can get REAL small cases. http://www.servercase.com/ check out the mini ITX section. got a few small ones that can fit under seats. id also recomend www.newegg.com for any computer parts. if i could marry a website, it'd be that one.
just hit me up if you have any questions on all of this.
yeah i was thinking about getting one of the little cube cases, but i really don't know if i'll need it or not. it'd be really nice if i could get something that i could put above the glovebox behind the dash but i don't know how well it would stay cool if i did that. as far as power supplies would you suggest using an AC to DC inverter or just buying a 12V power supply??Originally Posted by 5thgcelica

as for the 12v powersupply, you could try it, i know some people on mp3car.com have used them.
i got a power inverter in my car and it works great, no buzzing sound at all. only time you hear like a pop is when my system is on pretty loud and i turn the inverter off, but thats because i wired the inverter to another switch. for this carputer i might stick with this inverter or i might get an Opus Power Supply, just because you can wire it so that when you turn your car on, the carputer turns on, and when you turn your car off, the carputer turns off.
^^ what inverter did you get? make/company/anyinfo would be lovely!
thanks
I have an Opus 150w with shut-down controller that's specifically made for the Shuttle case. I'm not using it right now, so if you want to pick one up quickly, I can order another when that project get's closer to completion.
you can wire any inverter to do that.Originally Posted by ProjectWidow

Was $220 when I got it plus shipping. NOw they are on sale for $200, so $200 and you can pick up. It's brand new in the box, never used or installed. It's the best one that they offer. I can order another one when the project gets closer to finished (yes, I still need it, just not yet).Originally Posted by chuck

Unless you have a TRUE sine wave inverter, you are asking for problems. Do it right the first time.
