So I have Comcast for years, hate'em.

So I heard by "word of mouth" you could get free internet from comcast with a modded modem. All you needed was a basic cable signal.

I was lucky already had a "moddable" modem (motorola surboard)

I sent it in, paid the fee and have had free net for a month and a half now.

thought I would pass the site along.

You get your IP from the DNS server

Comcast sometimes assigns IP address to the MAC address of your modem or sometimes they use DHCP server to assign your ip address.

IP addresses are assigned by the ISP (comcast), period. if/when they discovered you are stealing (reserved) IP addresses, you will goto jail for theft of services. the end. it's not hard at all to run an audit on the ISP server side.

I just got comcast in the new house, and i get 150 channels, HD DVR Box free for a year, 2 extra boxes for the bedrooms, and the 12mbps Internet with powerboost for $68 a month.

I was downloading torrents at 1900 k/bs earlier today

they're charging you to take something out of that air, convert it to something useful, have networks so you can connect to your friends and the world to download porn/music/pictures/whatever else.

yeah me and my friend had free cable on our aptments for like a year n a half util comcast ppl came and cut it lol they didnt come to us to say anything thoe they just cut the wires on the box
