The front looks better overall, the rear doesn't. Im glad they got rid of (or just painted) the black slit thing in the front part of the hood, but now its on the back bumper, wtf.
Yea I dont like the LED lights either - LOVED the old lights. Oh well.
They have yet to update the website, but the cars also get a small power boost right?
I saw these pics about a month ago.
I am determined to own a GT3 by the time I am 32!
*excuse me, goes to the restroom*

I don't like the shift knob. Thats really my only complaint. Lets all chip in $20 and buy 1 as an "IA Team car".
...i like it but the wheels look cheap, very nissanish

It's a good look. I like how much variety Porsche gives you with the 911.
I think that are 50+ different ways to have a 911.
I've been waiting for you to post this. lol
I love it. Does this one have DI? I can't remember.
boo on the Audi LED's. I like em, but leave em on Audis..
still looks sick
I'm pretty sure i posted this before but one more won't hurt.Originally Posted by 81911SC
I've read the entire facelifted lineup will recieve DI but the GT3 DOES NOT? I have to read further in to see why not. There are other things that have been improved like Porsche's Variocam tech.
I thought this was great as well.
"Later this year, the GT3 will be available with a set of newly developed PADM (Porsche Active Drivetrain Mount) engine bearings. These special engine mounts automatically recognise hard-style driving, and adjust the normally elastic engine suspension and bracing to a firmer setting. "
Here's the official video if you have not seen.

Yea, that's what I thought. That's pretty slick though. Check out my thread in Car Talk on the Panamera. Some of the new things for it are sick.Originally Posted by EJ25RUN

The current 911 platform, known to Porschephiles as 997 Gen II, was launched in the fall of 2008 with the Carrera and the Carrera S. Both cars debuted with Porsches latest six-cylinder boxer engine, featuring a one-piece crankcase and direct fuel injection, and an optional PDK dual-clutch auto-shift transmission. The GT3 will be the only car among current and future 997 Gen II variants with an old-school, split-crankcase block and conventional sequential fuel injection.
Thats because the GT3 is the homologation car for various production-based Porsche race cars, from the GT3 RSR to Grand-Am Cup cars, and all of them (not to mention the Grand-Am Prototypes) use the old-style crankcase cast in two separate halves. The GT3s split block engine is more time-consuming and expensive to build than the newer engine, which has far fewer castings in general, and its not readily suited to high-pressure direct injection. The good news for Porsche freaks is that the split-crankcase boxer still hasnt reached its development potential, and the new GT3 drives the point home.

Drivers Republic has a good write up on the new GT3, and also a reason for it not having DI.

That looks like a good read.Originally Posted by ironchef
