Default DSM HELP with idle surge

I have a problem with idle surge. Can someone help me out please! THis is what I have, I just bought a 92 Eagle talon tsi. I took my brothers Apexi BOV off his 90 AWD eclipse and put it on my talon. After installing on my car it started idle surge. I did a little looking around and found out that the external BOV can cause the idle surge. After a day or so of the GREAT sound I decided to put my stock BOV back on the problem still excites. Does anyone in the DSM world can help me out with this. The car never did idle surge before I put the BOV on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got cha, I know that VAC leak can cause that but when I put everything back to stock I made sure that everything was snug. I will have to check it out again just to make sure! Thanks for the info 05spydergts

I thought that putting the stock BOV back on to recirculate would fix the problem but it didn't.

Is it a constant surge or is it searching for idle and sometimes die?

Never dies, just about a 500 RPM surge.

Try re-setting your ECU. And make sure you did not disconnect any vac. lines.

Yeah I found that the thermovalve Vac line was dry rotted and disconnected. The problem is that damn nipple on the thermovalve broke. Jeep/Eagle said that they couldn't even order it. So I'm now looking at blocking those vac. lines off. Any info on that $9ktt? To reset the ECU it's just disconnect the negative on the battery rite?

Disconnect it, then plug the vac line. Problem solved.

And yes, disconnect your ground terminal for like 5 -10 mins, then reconnect it.

^^^ yeah, Mike is pretty good with his stuff. BUT he comes on this forum VERY RARELY.

Check out GADSM.org, VFAQ.net (this site will be your best friend now that you have a DSM. I have probably read info on this site for a solid 20 hours)

Vinman on here (mainly on GADSM.org) knows his shit inside and out. Might be easier to get in contact with. Just my .02.

Hmmm...have you checked your BISS? I know when I had this issue with my 2g, it was somehow related to that. I didn't fix it personally, but the guy that bought it, brought a scan tool with him, and said it was somehow related.

^ Werd !!! I forgot about the BISS. Mine came out of the Eclipse just this week !!!
Look on the TB and make sure that screw is still in there. They have been known to come out.

I've ran a Greddy Type-S, HKS SSQBV, and an RFL Bov on my 2gs VTA with no idle surge.

And spray some TB cleaner up the TB, the TPS and butterfly.

Mike (GASTROKER) is the man when it comes to fast DSM's, but he has said he isnt the best at diagnosing OTHER people's problems. If you want good help, get with Vinman on GADSM (new site president BTW). Ive bought cars, parts, sold parts and all that with Vinny, he is good people.

So this problem didnt happen until you swapped the BOV? It did not do this at all before?

Naw, never did it before. I found that the thermo valve vac. line was broke off. I'm pretty sure that is what is causing it to surge now that the stock BOV is back on. Also I'd like to say Guys down at MAIN STREAM did a HELL'a of job on my 3" exhaust!! Rite ON' !
