Welcome to what we were saying in 2003.

Never the less, the Daytona 24 is the Daytona 24.

If anything, the 20B RX8 vs Porsche 911 battle is what i'm most excited about.

The 2000 and 2001 GTS Viper and Vette wins were very impressive as those cars beat out the SR1 Riley&Scott Mark III which was essentially a mid 90's LMP Car. I remember 2001 was also the race Dale Earnhardt did the race. He was preparing to head to Le Mans one day. That day never came.

Then 2003, Porsche won with a GT3. A car from the slowest class! That was only due to the DP cars having their rookie year and not being able to stay on the track due to problems.

    Yes it's today.

Is it starting later then normal??

I'm guessing it is since usually making it through the night at Daytona means you are almost home.

I think it has to do with the race being shown on a standard TV channel (Fox 5). For the start at least and then it is back to Speedtv.

I actually like the 3:30 start time better. It's more similar to Le Mans which starts at 4:00PM Le Mans time.

One more fun fact....Just like at Le Mans, the outright distance record is still held by a Porsche 917 in 1970. 4439.279 km

Wow. Great finish for David Donohue and holding off JPM.

Congrats to Brumos for finally winning it after all these years.

    wow, david donohue.
I never thought much of him as a driver. His father, yes. David, I always thought he rode the coattails of his name and got some good equipment.
but man, he drove the wheels of that porsche riley. having Montoya giving you pressure cant be easy. that man is crazy, lol.

It really sucks that Speedsource was out of it so early, I was really hoping Sylvain could pull off another win especially with his wifes tragic death just last month. I know he probably needed it.
great win for TRG though. A friend of mine is on the team, its a hard race, and the crew deserves rolexes more than the drivers. Greatest part about the whole race was RJ Valentine. "I just won the Daytona 500!!!!!"

cant wait for next year, maybe this time I will finally make it there.

Great time in Daytona and a great race. Really hard to be back in chilly Atlanta after days in the FL sun.

    I hate you. so jealous
I couldnt just watch though. I've worked at Daytona tons of times but its different when your jumping over the wall to do your final pit stop at the 23 hour mark and shoving in your hotshoe f1 or lemans driver.
my career goals are to win the 24 at Daytona and the 24 at LeMans. someday
