anybody else into hacking iPods/iPhones?
i just re-did mine and i must say im very impressed. the past software versions have had several kinks in them, and this newest one, 2.2, has worked flawlessley. im finally able to get the NES imulator to workand have over 800 nintendo games on my iPod lol. im just curious as to how many other ppl are doing this as well? its so much better than paying for apps. here are some screen shots. ill post more as i update/change

i dont know anything about anything else. i was unemployed this summer and got bored, so i started looking into it. its really easy on the apple stuff. i youtubed how to do it, and the videos give you the link to get everything you need. at one point, on my previous hack, i had the phone button and could actually make phone calls from my iPod VIA wifi. the apple store sells a mic you plug in to the bottom so you can talk, and the sound obviously comes through the headphones. great way to prank phone call ppl

i always stayed away from the jailbreak idea becuase so many of my friends were having problems...then i jailbroke mine and realized how stupid some of my friends really are.
what set-up are you guys running?? i found a really nice bmw theme with nice soundfx and such...i've got the web downloaders set-up, dtunes, ifile, mxtube, backgrounder, sbsettings, cycorder, font swapper, movie land and sega emulator. i'm pretty happy with it, wish i could find free weather forcast for the lock screen but i can't get it to work with the rest of that BMW theme.
still new to all of this, what are the other free must-haves?

^^ I'm guessing only on ipod touch, or wifi enabled ipods.... basically an ipod touch is an iphone without the phone lol...
but you can't use the cellular network, basically just installing an app that makes phonecalls over the internet... equivalent of downloading skype on a laptop

as far as I know.. if you are running 3.1.3 with the latest firmware.. You will not be able to jailbreak your phone.. for now.. maybe im wrong..

actually you can, but you cook the 3.1.2 fw instead of the 3.1.3...thats exactly what i had to do, works fine.
edit - you can jailbreak but you CANNOT unlock the 3.1.3...but i've been cingular/att from the get go

3g 3.1.3 can be jailbroke, 3gS 3.1.3 can't. You can run the method the other dude is talking about, but it won't work if you didn't go into Cydia and SHSH your phone to the Cydia server. If you did, then there's still hope of restoring you back down to 3.1.2. Did you go into Cydia when you were jailbroke and click on the "make life easier" link?
