Did anybody do a 4AGE or a 4AGZE in a 93-97 toyota corolla or does anybody know anyone who has done it before?

Yes... what do you need to know?Originally Posted by HotHordas7
if i get the whole swap
what other things do i need?
It depends on what swap you get. What did you have your mind on? I'd recommend not getting the 4agze swap because most of the components aren't even compatible with the 93-97's. And its an extra pain in the ass for not much benefit.Originally Posted by HotHordas7
The silver top and red top swaps are probably the most straight forward. I'd recommend the silver top 20v swap because you can get the whole swap for under $2k. But if you are on a budget, just get a 4age 16v head and mate it to your stock 7afe block (unless you have a 4afe). 7age's are pretty good little setups but if you want a little more, you can always boost it.
7age is by far the easiest and you get the best of both worlds. Torque of the 1.8 7afe block, and the great flow of the 4age head. You will just need an 86 Porsche 944 timing belt.
well the 4AFE in the car now is pretty much done
yea i was thinking on getting the silvertop i read that it has vvt and its selling for around $1200-$1300
You can get a silvertop engine/trans in Marietta for ~$700. You will still need to source a wiring harness, afm, ecu, etc though.
^^ SiRed94 its a noob question butwould i still need mounts to drop the 4age in or does it just drop into the corolla directly along with the stock mounts?
Well, since you car is an automatic, you will need the mounts that come with the engine (I believe the passenger side mount is the only interchangeable one). The silver top mounts will bolt directly into the chassis and I believe the ae101 mounts bolt in as well along with the 7afe manual mounts. What is your budget for this project? and what are you looking for out of this car HP-wise?Originally Posted by HotHordas7
im not really looking for that much horsepower
i just want to swap the 4age in and get it running hopefully
the numbers for the horsepower and the torque to the crank seem to be close with the B16 correct me if iam wrong
If you are talking about a silver or black top yes. However a regular Blue/Red top 4age... NOOOO....Originally Posted by HotHordas7

seems like it would be better than getting the black top
Some people like the Silvertop better than the Blacktop, and some are vice versa. It would all depend on what you want to do later to the car. The blacktop head flows better, has larger throttles, and is also MAP based instead of AFM like the silvertop. However, the silvertop does have thicker, stronger rods, so it would be safer to turbocharge.
thanks for the info and help guysOriginally Posted by 90CelicaST
yea i was planing on getting the slivertop and dropping it in and hopefully just putting on some bolt ons
