i went and did the BMWCCA HPDE event this past weekend and had a blast. this was only my second trackday ever in a car and i managed to get signed off for running solo by the end of the weekend. my instructor kicked ass and was very good with his input and instructions. i know i still have a long way to go, but i did exceed my original goals for the weekend so i'm happy. anyone who hasn't tried it needs to save up some cash and give it a shot. it's amazing what you'll find out you and your car can do given the proper opportunity.
i think i'm going to invest in some more aggressive pads than the HP+ before the next one, i was lifting super early on the back straight because the brakes would fade pretty bad into 10 when i stayed in it. in the video i was running about 145 then lifting and braking at about 120-125mph just before the 100' mark. the one time i stayed in it i was around 155 into the braking zone and i barely got through the turn without some drift action. i also need to throw in a shift to 5th before 12 because as i got more confident with it i was running out of gear about halfway down the front straight (amazing the difference from the start of the weekend).
