The article does leave some bits out but that's a pretty good summary of what happened. Sean Morris is a good friend of mine and he filled me in on a good bit of the DL stuff that went on there before he left. They started the downhill slope only a few short years after they started everything. It was a good idea but Hiro liked money too much and certainly liked spending it more.

Interesting read, to say the least..I didn't know the owner of Motorex was the same Hiro from Jdm Insider and 360 Video. Seems like a lot of ppl were screwed whether they knew it was shady or not. I'm surprised he got off so easily and is still alive.

I'm actually quite interested in knowing as I have never read the complete story, only heard bad things.

the part about owners of r34 and r32 cars being reposessed by the govt because they either never passed or were tested in crash tests.

The DOT issued a bond release to many of the cars that were in process there which is where many of the "state" legal cars are coming from. I know several people who got their cars back like that and some who's cars were simply gone and got nothing. The unfortunate part is they never got EPA approval and G&K won't do them anymore so those cars are not really legal even though people tell everyone its a motorex car. As for the R34's, they did 12 of them and they were all just an extention of the order they had that allowed them to do 1995 R33's so technically they're all illegal but the DOT has grandfathered them in and doesn't care. That's why regardless of the year all motorex cars are listed as 95's, this kept them from needing to have OBDII compliance. Much of the research on what to do was performed on Big Bird and it was obvious when we owned the car that they were only doing the bare minimum to squeeze the cars through. The market for the cars is still there but the bad taste Motorex left will never let anyone get back into doing these cars properly.
