HIN Orlando 2008 CarbonGS & Rollininstyle2004 Documentary

Well, Jordan and I headed off to HIN Orlando this morning! Please join along as we keep you updated on this weekend’s events.

This morning we woke up at 6:00 AM and rolled out from ZEN Motors, LLC at 6:30 AM. Thanks to Jordan for bringing me food! Chick-fil-a FTW!!!

The cars out side the shop ready to roll!



First thing we did was stop at QuickTrip for some gasoline!



Jordan topped off at just over $50. Ironically I did as well





This is me lookin at my receipt and hating everything about it



Started to roll out and this is the first thing we saw! I learned today that they are called bumper nuts!



Jordan and I both took pics. So, obviously the ones I took were of his Passat and vice versa.

We took 85 South, 285 South, 675, 75, and the Florida Turnpike. We made pretty good time. 7.5 hours with a storm as well near the end. Follow along as we take you with us on the ride down.















































So we made it finally to the GA/FL border. Time to stop and take a little rest. This is when we had a lady come up to Jordan and ask, “So what is your plan with all that tape?”







We drove a little further and got a bite to eat at the good ole Burger King

After filling our stomachs we headed back onto 75 South.







By far the BEST gas mileage ever for me! Almost 400 miles on one tank!





At this point we were 60 miles out from Orlando. Had to stop by the turnpike to get just the right amount of gas. It was sunny skies up until now and what happens?

We got off at the last exit before the Orlando exit. I actually ran out of gas while pulling up to the pump! Talk about good luck! After we got our cars situated for the final 10 miles this is what we had to deal with!







A Florida State Trooper flew by us on a cruiser bike in the full out rain!


Checked into Days Inn at the Convention Center at 2:30 PM.. We had an issue with the door keys right away but got that fixed. Headed over to the roll in area. Where we waited and waited, and waited, and waited…











Finally we got some motion







We actually had time to unwrap the cars while waiting.









Staging area 2 where we were searched, tech researched, and organized to roll in. This was by far the worst organized event I have attended. It took us 3 hours of waiting to get in to this point. More waiting!






We finally make it inside and I took some pics before we went to bed!

Good idea with the tape i would have never thought of that, just some advice i would also tape the front 12 inches of your roof since florida has those love bugs. Being a detailer i see tons of roof damage on florida cars from those damn things.

Well, we will continue from where we left off yesterday!

Dinner the first night in Orlando was decided upon us for Maggiano’s! We were starving after roll in and I had remembered seeing it when we rolled passed it on our way to the hotel. Well, I was right about the fact that we passed it on the way in but I was well wrong of the distance that it was away from us. After walking what seemed to be a mile or so in the dead heat of the night, Jordan cleverly used his I-phone to see where exactly it was in relation to where we were. Another 2 mile walk and we were home free! So, like any lazy college aged person would do, we turned around and ate at Bennigan’s which was only about 100 yards behind where we were! Lol

We ate like there was no tomorrow! Steaks for both of us, I had the ribs as well.





We had an uneventful night that night except for feeling really really sick in the stomach! Bennigans = 1, Us = 0!

The next morning we ate at IHOP. Conveniently located inside our hotel lobby, we got in at about 11 AM or so. We ordered our food and played some IQ Tester game that was at our table.

Lol, apparently I am some sort of genius but oh well, we all know that isn’t true!



We got our food! Not too shabby but we both knew we were going to regret it later!





We walked across the street to the convention center. It is funny because the previous night we walked for like 3 miles to find our hotel, but it only took us 10 minutes this time! Jordan is NOT good with directions!

This convention center dwarfs the Georgia World Congress Center. It is just massive!







There was definitely a lot of Saturday morning roll ins!











We got to the entry dock finally around 12:15-ish. Only to be stopped from going inside. There was a huge debate on what official roll in and load in times were. On the forms it was 12 and for the staff working there it was 2PM. We were all told that nobody except for staff was allowed inside until 2 PM. What a load of crap because after a half hour of waiting, a staff member from HIN walked by and asked what we were all doing outside the doors. He said everybody with a wristband is allowed in. Needless to say we all rushed the door then!



With it being still somewhat decently lit, I went around and took some pictures for you all. Enjoy the show.

This is by for the most random thing to happen at a show to date!

A television crew just showed up in front of Jordan’s car and started filming something. They were speaking in spanish. Upon further investigation, it was found that they were filming for some episode for Telemundo involving Domino‘s Pizza! The segment will air next Saturday at noon! So everyone tune in!

Well the show ended around 11:45! Jordan took home Hottest Mild Volkswagen as well as Best EDM!!! Good job buddy! I knew you were gonna kill the competition!



After leaving the convention hall, I started to feel the car getting really bumpy. All I can say is Mark, I feel your pain! Ron! We definitely need those tires asap now! Thank goodness I brought a spare with me. However my trunk set up required a wrench to take off the nitrous lines. I didn’t have one. We were stranded until about 1:30 AM outside in the parking lot. Team SOLO came to the rescue though! I can not thank you guys enough for your assistance in that time of need. They all made sure I got my spare on and it was safe to go. During that whole episode, I was exhausted and forgot to put up the e-brake. As we lifted the car up and I went to grab the wheel lock key from inside the car, the car fell down and the scissor lift rolled over my foot. I was very fortunate to only get a bruise. Thanks again to the guys of Team SOLO! I am forever in debt!

Team SOLO then invited us to dinner at the fanciest place in town at 3:30 AM! Denny’s! Apparently there are like 4 Denny’s within a 10 miled radius of this town. Jordan and I went to all four and only till be got to the last one did we find the one that they were at. What a weekend!

Adrian, your secret is safe with me and Jordan! Lol your poor wife, she gotta deal with you and your special video game haha! Let’s just say it has something to do with Phil Collins!



Well, I will be updating again either tonight or tomorrow as time permits. We will be leaving the hotel shortly and taping up the cars again, grab some lunch, get some gas, and rolling back up to the ATL! We missed you guys! I can’t wait to get back home and sort the car out with all the little issues. My head unit stopped working last night on the way back to the hotel. My tires are all going to get changed out! Lots of things need to be done before I show again. Hopefully I will make it to HIN Nashville this coming weekend. Keep this thread close guys, there will be plenty of coverage of the ride back!

thanks, but yeah, i was on a time constraint. there was only so much time before they killed the lights so i did what i could to cover the whole floor

Well, after 6 hours of rest we had to get up and get back on our way home to good old Atlanta!

Had another IHOP breakfast. It was fast, close, and convenient! Plus we had our cars right outside our window! This is because the IHOP Is connected to our hotel. Apparently a lot of people that attended HIN stayed at our hotel because we had nowhere to park near our room the night of the show.



We were both beat and tired!





I actually fell asleep again while waiting for the food

We drove across the street after breakfast and filled up our gas tanks for the return trip. One of their service stations was out of order so we asked permission to use it to tape up the cars. After about an hour of work we were on the road again!

Our trip finally came to an end. Everyone got home safely! Thanks again to all of those who helped along the way. I am very fortunate to have met everyone I didn’t know before as well as seen old friends again! Till we meet again!
