Everything you listed was played on MTV 80 times a day. I believe I am like 10 years older than you or somewhere close so I promise I was there. Oh and btw, all the groups you mentioned were at some point "mainstream." You are better at letting things go in your mouth rather than coming out.

well i don't like them just because they were mainstream at all. if you knew my type of music, then you would know that this is the type i would listen to no matter if they were mainstream or not.

Mtv progressively increased its airing of rap acts, such as LL Cool J, Naughty By Nature, Onyx and Sir-Mix-A-Lot, and by 1993 added West Coast rappers previously associated with gangsta rap, with a less pop-friendly sound, such as Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Traditional pop acts were phased out in favor of R&B acts, such as TLC and Janet Jackson. By late 1991 going into 1992, began frequently airing videos from their heavily promoted "Buzz Bin", such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, PM Dawn, Arrested Development, Bjork and Lenny Kravitz. Mtv increased rotation of 120 Minutes and added Alternative Nation to play videos of these and other underground music acts. Subsequently grunge and alternative rock had a rise in mainstream tastes, while 80s style hair bands and traditional rockers were phased out, with some surprising exceptions such as Aerosmith and Tom Petty. Older acts such as R.E.M. and U2 remained by making their music more experimental or unexpected. By 1993 more hit alternative rock acts were on heavy rotation, such as Stone Temple Pilots, Soul Asylum, Tool, Beck, Radiohead, and Smashing Pumpkins. Other hit acts such as Weezer, Collective Soul, Bush, and Silverchair would follow in the next couple of years. Alternative bands that appeared on "Beavis and Butthead" also rose to fame, most notably White Zombie. In 1994-95 Mtv began promoting new punk rock acts, most successfully Green Day and Offspring, and ska-rock acts such as No Doubt, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Sublime. By 1997 Mtv focused heavily on introducing electronica acts into the mainstream, adding them to its musical rotation. Some of the more popular musicians of this group were The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Moby, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, and Roni Size. Some other established musicians proceeded to experiment with electronica and be played on Mtv, most notably Madonna, U2, David Bowie, and Smashing Pumpkins. However, in 1997 Mtv began shifting more progressively towards pop music, inspired by the success of the Spice Girls and the rise of boy bands in Europe. Between 1998 and 1999 Mtv's musical content consisted heavily of videos of boy bands such as Backstreet Boys and N'Sync as well as teen pop 'princesses' such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, and Jessica Simpson. Rock, electronica, and alternative acts were reduced or phased out. Rap continued in heavy rotation, through the likes of Puff Daddy, Master P, DMX, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, Missy Elliot, Eminem, Ja Rule and their associates. R&B was also heavily represented, such as Destiny's Child and Brandy.

i don't see one of my artists/groups that i mentioned. mainstream, i think not.

Nice try but luckily I didn't have to go through that BS paragraph. I believe early 90's doesn't cover the entire decade. Nice try but your better at recieving cumshots to your face.

you are better off in 3rd grade english class.

anyways, you need to have reading comprehension. if you read it, you would realize through the paragraph that they were going through the whole DAMN decade, not just early 90s.

Unfortunetly Autum, It doesn't list the entire roster for the decade. Simply examples. If the groups you originally mention were not mainstream, why did (and still does) the radio stations still play them. Radio stations only play top 40 (which are in fact mainstream groups). If they played BS tracks that most people dislike then ratings would go down. Want to keep going? Google some more crap so I can call you out on it.

they were mainstream but some of them were still good. a lot of bands were over rated in the 90's as well as pretty much every band is over rated today.
i do have to say i honestly like quite a few of the rock bands in that article but they were mainstream. as far as that nirvana **** in the article goes, im glad dude shot his self or got drugged or whatever happened. his music sucked.

The difference between you and I is I am very well rounded. I was born and raised in Southern Califon-I-A so I have alot more experience in music. It sucks for you bc you are still wet behind the ears and probably still wet from that last guy you sucked off. You are retarted and have no chance winning this battle. Music is a big part of my life.

Non of the artists were unknown or underground artists. Every single one of them were mainstream.

TLC was one of the biggest selling female R&B group ever (Waterfalls, Baby Baby Baby, Creep, Red Light Special).

Ice Cube is the most consistent rapper ever. He continually sells records every time he throws one out. He had shiit all over the radio back then (Today Was a Good Day, Bop Gun, Check Yo Self, Bow Down).

Keith Sweat had 6 fuccing albums make it to the number 1 position. 4 of those in the 90s.

    Outkast had 3 albums in the 90s. A number 1, a number 2 and a number 3 album.

Two Live crew had every album they put out go Gold. Even their edited tracks were mainstream.

There's really no reason to continue this fruitless discussion. Wrong you are. Again. Proven by me. Again. Later, QD.

Music is a big part of my life.

lol, i'll rephrase the question, what songs are still on the Top 40 mainstream?

and btw, like i've stated before. he asked what's your favorite 90s music. he didn't ask what you favorite 90s music was back then. i was a kid, i didn't listen to much music besides CCR, ZZtop, etc in the 90s. he asked what's your favorite 90s music. meaning right now, what is the music that you like that was made in the 90s.

You're confusing your own fuccing self, dummy. Why even bring up mainstream if he just wanted your favorites from the 90s? Later, QD.

Keith Sweat had 6 fuccing albums make it to the number 1 position. 4 of those in the 90s.

There's really no reason to continue this fruitless discussion. Wrong you are. Again. Proven by me. Again. Later, QD.

he said MTV mainstream. not all of that was on MTV, or so i don't think so. i was barely around mainstream music back then. my opinion is formed on what i like now, i don't care if they didn't sell one album or the most in the world, they are what i like now. none of my opinions were formed on the fact that they were mainstream when i was 1-10 year(s) old.

When will you learn that thinking is NOT your better trait? Every single one of those artists were all over MTV. God. Dammit.

That shows what you truly know about music.

Then quit arguing over whether or not they were mainstream. Especially since you don't know.

Just bc you got owned, please stop trying to fight your way back to the top. Its not going to work.

I originally said "your selection was stale and mainstream FTL." You countered with "its not mainstream"

We all know he didnt ask for any mainstream bands. We can read (being that you actually have to type an address to get on this site. Not to mention login and locate this thread.) you just decided to debate with someone bc you think you are smarter on this topic than anyone else. WRONG!

I am going to go watch tv with my wife. At least I can honestly say she is hands down smarter than you will ever be bc she is not an attention whore.

    Peace beoch!
