    Default Mint 05 yamaha R1

hey everyone. i have a 2005 Yamaha R1 that was stretched 6 inches and lowered, but i put it back to stock because it rides so much better! i still have everything to stretch it back for sale...the bike has NEVER been laid down and only has 9000 miles on the bike but shows 11400 on the clock but do to not having the speedo healer until now just installed you are suposed to take away 200 miles per 1000 if you did not have a speed o healer witch i did not have until justt recent. i do have the receipt to show that i just bought it. the bike has NEVER been rained on either. its garage kept, and never stays outside.

I WILL SELL IT OUT RIGHT FOR $8500obo

i would like to trade for a clean s14...preferably swapped or turbo, but am very open to offers for all cars. Maybe even a clean s13. let me know if ur interested or want to trade.

Your pix are tiny. Maybe you should mention that you chopped the exhaust off at the midpipe and that it is missing the slip on exhaust

This is the photo at the link you sent me of the exhaust on an R1

    These are your photos:

Notice anything missing? Slip on = not there. Your exhaust is chopped/cut/whatever at the mid pipe. Whether by design, or not. It isn't there, bro. Look at your own pix.

I'm not trying to cut on your bike. Cutting on your bike would be saying "It looks stupid without the undertail exhausts" or "The slip-on missing makes the bike lose low-end torque"

Maybe after you sell your bike, you could invest into a speech class because I've been confused as sh1t as to what you have said in the last 3 posts in this thread.

Actually it's not cut. That's how the BOZ BROS exhaust is on the 04-06 R1. The picture he posted or linked to is for the 07-08 R1 which is slightly different. The BOZ BROS system is like the VooDoo, Muzzy, Brocks, or Roaring Toyz systems w/ a full header and a slash cut mid pipe. It's not my cup of tea but it is a full system b/c it comes w/ headers.

Let me reiterate. It is cut. Whether he did it, or whether the the custom exhaust was designed that way on purpose at the factory, it is still cut at the midpipe, and will exhibit the same behavior that I mentioned above.

You (or anyone with a pipe bender) can call whatever you want a 'full exhaust' as long as it mates with the headers. Not my cup of tea either, but something like that which can confuse potential buyers (or people who dont' know any better) should probably be explained.

That is why I made my original comment. Its not my fault (or my problem) if the OP goes apesh1t over something he himself should have stated up front.

Sorry but I'm not the one selling this bike nor would I put this exhaust on my R1.

I won't whore up his thread but I forgot to state that I used to own a black 06 ZX-10 for over 20k miles and a couple GSXR 1Ks before my R1. You're an idiot if you think hp and torque #s really mean much on 1000cc street bikes or even some of the new 600s. PM me if you want to meet up and do some friendly roll ons one night. As stated before I can bring my friends stock 05 R1 and I bet my cousin w/ his 06 ZX-10R will gladly come out also for some fun. We'll even video tape it so it'll be no drama. PM me and let me know.

I'm talking to you!! Dude have you been on the dyno?? Have you seen what numbers the 06-07 ZX-10 puts down on real dynos not some fake ass magazine dyno? I'll out dyno you and out run you drag strip or track or highway roll on. How about you call up Huey at Marietta Motorsports or even Huff at HFD1Motorsports and ask them how ZX-10s do on the real dyno. Why do you think that bike doesn't sell well or resell well in your case? Those bikes are beast upstairs when it comes to 160 and above but are pigs everywhere else-especially in corners. Don't read magazines-look at the streets and see what people are riding-GSXRs, Hondas, and Yamahas! Like I said I bit that magazine bullet and bought one-and had it for 20k miles but the truth is the truth. Unless you're Ricky Gadson or get one put together right by Kawasaki those things dyno around 145-150 stock which is right in the range of every other 1000cc motorcycle. But yours weighs more and has bad aerodynamics and can't handle compared to the rest. Get your REAL WORLD FACTS STRAIGHT!!

I'm not trying to be mean but your ZX-10 aint about to run away from any other 1000cc bike!! That's the honest truth. The bikes are too closely linked. I bet your bike dyno #s will shock you. When I owned my 10 the #s shocked me. Those magazine articles hyped that 10 up and most people won't dyno anything close to what the magazines say. Kawasaki always inbellishes on figures. Yamaha did too on the R6 w/ it's 17k redline!! They got a lawsuit out of it. Some(very few if any) ZX-10s will dyno 160 out the box but when I owned mine, my cousin owned(and still owns) his, and 2 other homeboys had ours and took it to Huff to get tuned-we all felt screwed. Huff told us that's the numbers we should have expected. He's never seem them dyno crazy high. When I bought my R1 and got it tuned 2 weeks ago at Marietta Motorsports they had a guy w/ the new 08 ZX-10 talking all high and mighty and Huey put him in his place real fast w/ real #s from 06s and 07s off his dyno. He hadn't dynoed a 08 yet but he was ready and willing to dyno the customer's 08 to see if Kawasaki stopped lying but the customer didn't want to get it dynoed until he had his pipes and some other things done 1st. On top of that, Motions had a dyno day about 2 months ago and NO YEAR ZX-10 came anywhere close to the highest in hp, torque compared to the GSXRs. The 04-06 R1s all had the highest mph on the dyno in the 1000cc class!!

Those are the facts I look for!!

You guys are arguing over nothing.

Both of you know damned well that the performance of both those bikes is close enough that is is 95% the rider that will determine who is faster.

The HP values reported by the manufacturers are measured on the engine, not at the wheel... which is why like race cars... race bikes get modified before they see a track.

THAT'S MY POINT EXACTLY!!! HE WAS THE ONE SAYING HIS ALMIGHTY ZX-10 COULD BEAT A R1(OR ANYTHING ELSE). I was just trying to correct him and say that it's all up to the rider.

The bike looks pretty good. I like the Moto GP style exhaust, but Im not sure how great the undertail looks with the mufflers missing. Do you have a better pic of the undertail? Either way, nice bike for sure. G/L on the sale. I wish I had the money...

...........for those who are having a hard time comparing the dynos I posted.... they are pretty much the same.

The old R1 is like +3hp low-to-mid and -3 hp at the very top.

    Translation: Depends on the rider

Hahahaha I'm whomever you want me to be. 285, 675, 75/85, I-20, Jennings, Road Atlanta, Silver Dollar Raceway, Atlanta Dragway, Dahlonega, or Deal's Gap. I've been to all of them on a bike! I wasn't trying to be a **** I didn't like when you said you could beat his R1. Generally all bikes built past 2000 are closely linked. Most people on the street can't ride them 1/3 of the bikes potential. It's all about rider. I'm by no means the best but I'm not the worst either. I try to have a good balance of track, dragstrip, and street.
