Default $5.8 Billion Atom Smasher, Very Cool

Will be the largest science experiment in history. They think it may even detect and prove alternate dimensions.....

I read about that thing in a few different articles. There is a decent amount of scientists who believe that the particle accelerator will create a mini black hole and destroy earth. I don't think that will happen, but it's still pretty crazy.

Yeah from what I have read over the years I find that theory to be a tad off the wall, But like anything new, people will come up with all sorts of idea's.

The idea of discovering other dimensions to me is wild.

im scared to click the link. i know my IQ would be sufficient, but the idea of an alternate universe is just too much. i worry too much and an "atom smasher" just sounds like its gonna **** us in the butt eventually haha.

Let's be careful about assuming the article says that this will prove alternate dimensions, as the article clearly states that the LHC might prove or uncover extra dimensions.

I know it might be a semantical argument, but I think that alternate dimension implies the existence of a reality that is separate and parallel to our own, whereas an extra dimension would be one that exists that we're unable to observe with typical human senses.

Should be an interesting research tool, and could be very progressive for particle physics.

Guess what, I've heard "rumors" that the "full" debut day will fall in 2012.

And that's kinda scary consider a lot of historical feedbacks says that the world would end in 2012.

If this was to go wrong, many things can happen: A void in the dimension, earth's polarity shifted 180 which cause the earth to stop, flipped, and spin the other way.

Eitherway, human existence will cease to exist if any of those scenario would happen.

also, they say that there's not conceivable danger, but u know how greedy scientists are. They'd turn up the boost to see "what else" could be there.

I seriously LOL'd at "turn up the boost to see what else could be there" hahahahahahaha

but you've definitely got a point..I don't think it'll bring about the destruction of the earth, just due to my personal religious belief's, and I don't believe in the whole 2012 crap either...but I'm sure something will happen...
