I've been watching testing and everything very closely. I am VERY excited about this years event. With all the new beautiful looking closed cockpit cars, competition Audi vs Peugeot, etc. It is going to be a great weekend.

Lol, I hate dish/cable companies. I wish I could pick the channels I want to pay for. Not pay an extra $15/month for 1 channel you know!?!

What is radio Le Mans, web streaming?

damn right. The only issue with them is that the pit stop takes longer cause the next driver cant just jump in an unstrap the driver. Still, the closed cockpit cars look better.

It started as a true radio program many years ago and became a web stream couple years back. It allows people in England to follow motorsport in other countries in English. It helped tons during the Nurburgring 24 which was broadcast in German.

About Speedtv, I do love when David Hobbs has his input. He is by far the best on there because of his incredible race history. He's been there and done that and is really able to explain what a driver goes through in a car.

Hideki Noda had the second huge rollover in his Lola/Mazda in qualifying.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxm9PjVmgW4

He was fine and walked around after the incident but it is game over for the team as the car is past being repairable.

Here is the Peugeot of Marc Gene earlier this month.

i just finished transporting my radio equipment from upstairs down to the big screen.

My issue is still that my Vista labtop wont see a live stream like radiolemans or the Nurburgring 24 hour race. I have it setup right now to some cheap laptop that is an xp and has no issues.

Breaking News: Aero rules to change after accidents

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68235

Le Mans organiser the ACO has vowed to make changes to the car regulations for 2009 following the number of aerial crashes that have occurred in recent months.

Hideki Noda suffered the sixth aerial accident for a prototype car since March during Wednesday's qualifying session, and the ACO believes that reducing corner speeds will solve the problem.

"(Aerial accidents) are a new phenomenon, as the regulations have not changed for this year," said ACO sporting director Daniel Poissenot.

"But I think we will have a different position for next year given the urgency of this. We will examine it.

"We need to look at the performance of the cars. We want to reduce downforce, which in turn will reduce corner speeds. All aero devices on the bottom of the cars will be banned for 2009."

The organisers of the race also outlined more plans to reduce the speed of the cars over the next couple of years with further aerodynamics reductions for 2010.

Poissenot added: "We saw in qualifying a 3:18 lap (by Peugeot). We are going to restrict the performance of the cars, but we will take the race times into account as qualifying can be inaccurate.

"We will do a lot of work for 2010 over the winter, but we want stability of three or four years, so there are no bad surprises for anyone. Current cars will still be allowed, but we will work to balance their performance with the new ones."

Plans for the future regulations also include the use of energy recovery systems, and increased lateral protection for drivers to improve the safety of the cars.

ANT.....you asked good questions and i coudn't fit my response in the PM section. So here it is.

    Quote Originally Posted by AnthonyF

The naming changes every couple years. LMP900 and LMP675 were first used in 2001 and according to ACO regulations these were open cockpit vehicles like the R8, Courage C60, and Pescarola.

Otherwise it was a closed cockpit GTP car like the Bentley Speed 8

In 2004 the system changed to calling the prototypes like the R8 as LMP1 cars

and the LMP675 as LMP2 cars.

This system runs till this day with the only difference being a closed cockpit GTP would now be a LMP1 such as the Peugeot 908 HDI.

The GT class has a bit of an unusual history.

When Group C was banned for 1994, that ACO created the GT1 class and did a bad job of specifying what that is because Porsche was able to take a Dauer 962, which was a street 962 and win the race overall.

After that the manufactuers kept abbusing what GT1 regulations would allow until cars like the Toyota GT-ONE were created.

During these years. French team Oreca (little known fact about them is they were the team Mazda put in charge of winning Le Mans in 1991).

Anyways, Oreca ran the Viper GT2 team from 1996 till 2000 when they decided to swith to prototypes.

These "GT2" cars became GTS cars for 1999.
In 2006 The GTS cars became the GT1 cars like the P&M C6R and the DBR9.

For many years the slowest class was GT2 but then the GT class was created and became GT2 (Again) in 2004.

    Quote Originally Posted by AnthonyF

The DBR9 was winner of GT1 in 2007. It is a very good competition between them as the Vette was only a lap back at the end.

The only time the Ferrari did well was the Prodrive developed 550 but they left that project to make the DBR9.

Aston is the only company that runs a car in every single class of GT and 1 in LMP. You probably saw a GT3 DBRS9 and the other fact is that Aston does not run a
factory team in ALMS to combat thhe vette.

    GT1- DBR9
    GT2 - V8 Vantage GT2
    GT3 - DBRS9
    GT4 - Vantage N24/ GT4
    LMP1 - Lola body - Aston DBR9 engine.

I wanna know about this structure! It would make a killer house next to a lake or pond...then a section of the lower level could be used for a glass car showroom/garage

im gonna sit alone on this, compared to the S101, the S102 is a good looking car to me.

I like how they kept the yellow wheels for the car as well .

I really like how how the colors of the car are and how they kept the wheels, but as for the actual body design, its ugly.

    1st off...holy sh*t with ur knowledge!!! I think I can rep u, i will see.

the 8.0L V10 is NOT an advantage by any means. The C5R vette before the C6R didnt even run the production engine but they were complaining about the Vipers speed. Kinda obnoxious of them. Now they came out with the C6R which is lighter, more aerodynamic and more powerful but they still put restrictions on a 6-7 year old Viper. The New comp. coupes arent even allowed to race in ALMS I believe. As you can tell I am Viper biased but I like to be fair. Thats what ALMS used to have but it doesnt seem that way anymore. B/c GM is such a huge sponser I believe they give those guys whatever they want.

There are couple of more things that set Le Mans of from everything else.

In order to race at Le Mans, you have to be invited. Unlike the Indy 500 or the Monaco GP, you dont get points toward any championship. It is one race and thats it.

The cars that are in this year have either won the European Le Mans series,
The ALMS, the Petit Le Mans and are teams that are capable of running the race. It is a known fact that the Penske Porsche team was sent an invite but he didn;t want to spend the money to go to Europe which is a shame.

Back on the Viper debate, the Vette squad wasn't as good as the Oreca squad for about 2 years but by 2001, the Vette was the car to beat in GT1.
Oreca left and had stopped development of the car and no team was able to take the fight to the Vette.

For the fact on air restrictors......GT1 cars would make about another 150-175hp if they had larger restrictors. But they are so small to begin with that there wasn't that much of a difference on the viper.

The modern comp coupe is a GT3 car so someone would have to develop a GT2 or GT1 car in order for that to change.

It's such a shame to restrict these cars. Nascar in the old days was run what u brung. I wish they did this with lemans. Ya know what i mean? How can you make a fast race car then tone it down?
