    For those planning on moving to NY or those traveling, I'd reccomend quitting or bringing your own.

    Today an additional $1.50 tax was added to cigarettes, going from the already highest in the state average of $5.79 a pack to an astronomical $7.71 a pack.

    I honestly love this move. When reading many articles in the paper, alot of smokers are on their last pack because they will no longer be able to afford the habit. Some are still willing to continue the deathly habit.

    This brings in an additional $265 million into the state, and hopefully increases longevity in smokers who decide it's time to quit.

    my mom saved 50 bucks when she flew in to atl from utah..

    Doral in GA= 23.50

    Doral in Utah= 47.50

    she bought 4 cartons.

    haha i remember a few years ago i was hostessing at some restaurant & some guy comes in & was like OMG do you have a cigarette?! I dont have enough money to buy any I only have like 10 bucks to my name!!!!

    and i kinda looked at him weird & i was like "dude that can buy you like 3 packs......."

    and he FLIPPED OUT & was like WHAT?! HOW MUCH ARE CIGARETTES HERE?!?!!

    and i told him they were like 3 - 4 bucks a pack.

    turns out he was from chicago & said they were 12 dollars a pack up there.

    i would quit if they went up that high here.

    Yeah in the News Day article it mentioned less liklihood of kids to start smoking.

    I think this is a great idea and every state should increase cigs at least a $1 in tax to bring in state revenue. It sucks so many oppose it so heavily, but it would be great for states to make money.

    i remember when i was in NY last ciggs were like $5.75 a pack i went across the river into jersey and got them for $3.56 lol
