I don't let my revs past 3k... this is sad. The gas prices are supposed to go down after Labor Day. We'll see.

I usually shift at 2500rpm... not to save gas milage but just to keep the damn thing atleast some what quiet... As for the Mirage... hell if I know what RPM i'm at.. thing doesn't even have a tach, so I just shift when whatever weak ass gear I'm in quits pullin' haha

If you think shifting at 3k is low you should come see the drivers in China. For starters, 95% of all cars are sticks. When Chinese people are taught to drive, they are taught to shift in 10 kph increments. It’s insane! They start off in first and barely get the car rolling before its in second, third, etc. It drives me nuts because not a single person winds an engine out. The carbon buildup on all of these engines is probably enough to fill up a 5 gallon bucket.

I've definitely been more conscious on the highway. Usually I have fun winding it out between 60-80 in 5th gear depending on the flow of traffic, but now I try to keep the speed even.

Alot of people have been joking about this, but my wife has a 60mile a day commute, so we are seriously considering one just for her to commute in.

I usually shift at about 3900 rpms.. right before vtec has a chance to kick in... does it really save that much gas to shift at a lower rpm???

For now I do. Remember the little Evo I have? I used to daily drive that until about 2 months ago....it's about to be done soon. So no more red truck for me I actually have been driving the f350 more than the red truck recently. That's a true gas hog.
