...is joining me in shifting below 3000 rpm to ensure th3 uper gas mileage?
...is joining me in shifting below 3000 rpm to ensure th3 uper gas mileage?
um im just not gonna drive as much
I don't let my revs past 3k... this is sad. The gas prices are supposed to go down after Labor Day. We'll see.

well considering 5k is my redline- i rarely take it 3k anyways. i usually shift around 1.5-2k.
jeep wrangler tj
suzuki sv650s
victory vegas 8 ball
where should i shift at? 9k is my redline.
knockoff snorkle+Rick's 6+Header+Berk's Test Pipe+HKS Hiper Exhaust+Apex-i VAFC ii = still slow.
i redline it constantlylove the scrappy action... $10 gets 3/4 tank and lasts for average 5-6 days
HAHA
not me gas could be 6.00 and i still would drive it like i stole it!
since you are mr jt MONEY! y0! gangsta foo!
I usually shift at 2500rpm... not to save gas milage but just to keep the damn thing atleast some what quiet... As for the Mirage... hell if I know what RPM i'm at.. thing doesn't even have a tach, so I just shift when whatever weak ass gear I'm in quits pullin' haha
If you think shifting at 3k is low you should come see the drivers in China. For starters, 95% of all cars are sticks. When Chinese people are taught to drive, they are taught to shift in 10 kph increments. It’s insane! They start off in first and barely get the car rolling before its in second, third, etc. It drives me nuts because not a single person winds an engine out. The carbon buildup on all of these engines is probably enough to fill up a 5 gallon bucket.
I shit low rpm's to, 3gs...right before my turbo gets agitated.(sp?)

well i'll be honest..i still redline a few times..but.... definitely not as often anymore... plus my syncros are off so. it usually just grinds really bad if i do redline...
I've definitely been more conscious on the highway. Usually I have fun winding it out between 60-80 in 5th gear depending on the flow of traffic, but now I try to keep the speed even.
i go between 3-4....still do it

yea, 3rd-5th, well, actually, more like 4th thru 5th
Id never be able to keep up w/ traffic shifting that early in 1st and 2nd
I have made no changes in my driving habits.
Im already spending 60 bucks a week in gas.. So fuck it. I need a fucking insight.

I usually shift at about 3900 rpms.. right before vtec has a chance to kick in... does it really save that much gas to shift at a lower rpm???

For now I do. Remember the little Evo I have? I used to daily drive that until about 2 months ago....it's about to be done soon. So no more red truck for meOriginally Posted by Spyder Man
I actually have been driving the f350 more than the red truck recently. That's a true gas hog.
my car shifts for me...but when not in the pimptastic crown vic i try to shift around 10,000 RPM's, but I still get around 50 mpg, and i've only got two wheels...
