    Default Callout: E30s

I got into an arguement on E30tech a while back about my mustang being able to beat an E30. I just now remembered it and would like to race a 84-91 bmw 3 series. No serious mods, just let me know what you have.

PM me if you have a race, I'd like to keep it in or close to warner robins since my car is a gas hog.

are you talkin about a mountain run or a straight line hwy pull? either way, the results should be obvious... you should pull in a straight line, but you'd have your ass handed to you in the twisties... 2 totally different cars... kinda like comparing my goat to my gf's 350z...

    Straight line.
They said a 325is would pull on me in a straight line.

I'm not even sure if a stock one would win in the twisties, I out-handle all of my friends' imports with suspension work. But like I said, not sure.

I'd torn a few Mustangs up on some twisty roads with my E30. I know a LT1 Camaro got me off the line by a few cars though.

I know they're quick and I'm not trying to talk bad about them, I had 2. But I don't think one would have a chance in a straight line.

I haven't driven one in awhile but from what I remember of mine I think 60-100ish would be a good match up. But from a dig I'm sure it would be a failure on the e30.

    What do you have done?

Before I did the complete tune up I ran a 14.9 wheel hopping. (cracked dizzy cap, weak coil, plug wires missing boots, and fouled plugs. lol)
I should be low 14's with traction.

An E or e.t.a is not in any way comparible to an I motor E30. Its like comparing an HX CRX to an Si or a V6 stang to a V8. I had an E30 4 door, intake/exhaust/chip blah blah. It would run low 15's with full interior. I have no doubt it would hang but most likely get beat pretty bad in a straight line. I ran a V6 exhaust camro from 60 once and I pulled 2-3 cars by 100 to give you an idea. I'm not even going to talk turns as they are legendary track cars, autocross cars, 1st time learning cars etc.

Well a race against a v6 camaro is laughable in my car. With another person in my car, I pulled hard on a supercharged grand prix. Had ATLEAST a bus length on him by the time I was at 90. That was a 20 roll. I broke loose and he didn't at take off.

Yep. Don't know what mechanic told you a stock "I" would beat you. It would have to have atleast an M50 swap (2.5 Vanos) + tuning to pull you.

If someone had a 325 e with the I head swap and some bolt ons with a good tune that's easily going to out run him. But as far as stock for stock the e will get murdered.

What do y'all think about a 88-91 325iS with exhaust, do I stand a chance? No tune or anything special.

A cat-back exhaust adds 0whp and 0wt to a stock E30. The stock one is good. Mine had intake(no high beam)/chip and you'd still walk it. If you take the cat off you can get 6 crank hp + another 20 with supersprint headers. I'd like to see you run an I with intake/chip/full exhaust. That would be fair.

Try to find one with a stock M50 2.5 vanos swapped motor. Thats the 93+ 325i motor which is only rated 21hp more. If you never go to the track then you'll be hard pressed to find an E30 I with headers. Almost all of them on the street are super eta 2.7's, swapped, or stock I's.

If you'd made this thread two years ago...haha. I have a friend with an M50 swapped E30 that would be perfect but i'm almost positive he won't street race (road racing only). My good friend has a stock one with suspension but its got 300k+, compression thats only getting way lower than it has and speakers to weigh it down..you'd destroy it. He's currently doing some sort of rebuild and prob a super e.t.a. Another good friend is in the process of doing an M52 obd1..that would be better for 2005+ GT manual. What are you selling it for?

Just trying to get $4000 for it since the odometer has been broken for unknown amount of time. lol. 5.0s for the win though. Still pulls hard as hell.

You know some guys up in ATL that are into BMWs and have a shop? They're on Bimmerforums and one's name is matt, has a swapped white 325i. Anyways, i sold my 318i to a guy that's friends with him.
