The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.
it is the T8d motor. it is a 1.8 liter, 16 valve, dohc 4 cylinder
Plans: get the intake and install it, one day turbo it (Kfxperformance.com has a kit), get and install a front strut tower bar and a rear sway bar, and possibly ditch the Eibach Pro-kits for a set of coilovers (also from Kfxperformance.com).
welcome to the site. props for being different.
ROFL......
Props for being diff and not ricing it out and calling it different!
Welcome to ia.
Sorry, but no car other than a DSM really deserves the "GSX" badge.

Yeah, really the only difference in the Spectra GSX from the Spectra GS is the black ground effects and a stripe that stretches the length of the side of the car (which I removed). I have actually been in the scene since 2000 (used to have a 1996 Honda Accord LX) so I hope I have an ok idea of what is rice.
i see alot of ppl hooking up cars you wouldnt expect these days keep us posted on your updates
Sure will. Kias are actually pretty popular in Malaysia, Austrailia, and some parts of Europe. They are getting pretty popular in California now too.
props for being different.
nice start.. im a lil bias to the older mazda powered kias...![]()
make kia proud!
im guessing u can drive a month on a tank of gas. slick
Live Fast, Die Fun
Props for not driving a honda
+1 for posting up man.
I have done a little bit of investigating into possibilities in parts for my car and found plenty of resources. I ll order and install the parts as I get the money and keep you guys posted (the ones who actually want me to) LOL
i guess...

There is a Galant GSX too. AWD non turbo. Its made in Japan and brought here. It was made before the Eclipse so I would imagine it "deserves" it too.Originally Posted by Cyclonehatch
Good luck with the Kia. When you bought it did you get a Rio free?
I actually like it.![]()
No, it is a 2001 and I bought it in 2004 from a used car dealership so no free Rio although that would ve been pretty cool. There are a lot of modded Kias out there... for instance check out www.streetkiaz.com and browse there. Granted some of them are pretty ricey but some are actually pretty nice. Two on that site have been featured in magazines and webzines. Their screennames are Brainsperm and Haddytech.

They are. DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors. The Eclipse GS-T, GS-X, Eagle Talon TSi, 3000GT VR-4, and the Galant VR-4 are all considered DSM's.

2010 Scion xB
Yeah, true. Knew I forgot one.
I don't know what to say.
Why, because it is a Kia? For once can't anyone look past the badge on the car and just look at the car and the work done to it. (granted not much done to mine yet)

Talon/Eclipse/Laser are made in Normal, Illinois. THEY are DSMs. Galant VR-4s came first in 1987 and the drivetrain and motor was borrowed to start the Eclipses in 1990 here.
Don't talk just to talk.
^^^^^^ LOL...
anyway, ummm, it's different and that's good, I guess. + 1 for that.
Good luck with it. I wasn't aware that Kia had a growing aftermarket. Aren't they owned by Hyundai now?
yes.Originally Posted by Ran

Every magazine I have ever read has listed the Eclipse GS-T, GS-X, Eagle Talon TSi, 3000GT VR-4, and the Galant VR-4 as DSM's. You saying every tuner magazine out there a liar. I wouldn't have "talked" if I hadn't read it somewhere. They also said the "Diamond Star Motors" was any car that was built within the relationship between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.
Yeah, I looked again and you re right the VR-4's are not DSM. I knew they made them in Japan but I could have sworn I read in the mag that they were DSM. They had an article about DSM's and they just mentioned the 3000GT VR-4 and the Galant VR-4 in the article but not that they were DSM's. I'm not an idiot I promise you that. I just misread that particular article.
