1.8t golf vs. MR2 turbo???

how much power mr2 turbos got??? i raced on on the hwy coming back from the varsity...

so i'm rolling along on 85 north right after the 89/75 split and i keep hearing this loud bov, suddenly this red mr2 rolls up next to me, and his bov is going off over and over like the dude had 1,000,000 gears... so i say fuck it stay in 5th pull on him.... so we go again both dropped in gear i let him take off first he pulls a door length on me my turbo spools up and i'm car lengths ahead. i know he had a after market exhaust but dayum that bov was loud as fuck, i thought those cars were faster???

not worried there is always someone faster, specially when i'm still rolling w/ an almost stock motor... but we'll see my little torque beast is awaiting k04 or bigger if the power isn't what we want

Yeah, the ones with a stock turbo pushin 15 psi are pretty quick haha. Mr2's with a bov are loud period. The stock bov with the recirculation valve plugged is loud as well

its been said you can get a safe additional 8 psi with a boost controller on a stock motor.

300 hp in a MR2 will also walk on a 911 pretty much from 110 and down, but the porsches own the top end.

I wore a couple of those out locally. I also have raced two at Reynolds on separate occasions. The faster one ran a 14.7. A high 14 sec car looks slow when the other car has almost a sec on you.

MR2'S really arent highway cars, there more midrange and there killer off the line

when i ran my car with exhaust and 13psi of boost i ran a 14.3 im running about 16-17psi daily right now.

with basic mods exhaust,boost controller,downpipe, etc 13's isnt hard. depends on the driver.

and with good driving and tuning ive seen 300whp mr2's run 11's

they first pulled up next to me in the HOV and i was like OK 5th gear pull no prob... then i slow down they later pull up on the right side windows down they don't say anything or look over but i keep hearing that dayum bov so i do a 4th pull and it was no contest. i toyed w/ them for a good 4 pulls and that car wasn't going anywhere.

yea, i remember one night when brian brought his MR2 up to starbucks one night and took this kid for a ride. they said he walked this 350 and then pulled on the ferrari it was racing.... id hate to be the ferrari owner! :idb:

WHat up Admin... it was me who you raced... I am running stock turbo with HKS SSQV, K&N intake, and Greddy Sp exhaust thats all. I am also running rich. My car prob got like like 180 to the wheel. But damn your car is Fucking Fast...the reason why it was so loud is because i tightened the bolt on the bov and everytime i let the gas go you can hear it. I wasn't shifting that much. I was on 4th and 5th gear most of the time. What do you have in your car and how much do you push. oh yeah i rolled the window down to hear to see if i could hear anything spooling.

anyways it was fun.. one day i will have more power... but yeah brian's 400 hp mr2 is damn fast.

cool, lol ya nice meeting ya... i got chip ecu, fmic, k&n filter, 2.5" custom piping and a flowmaster exhaust... #'s in the sig... when you get some more done i'd like to run again see where we stand, i know mr2's can be very quick

the thing w/ the 1.8t is the torque 70+mph is cake for this car... i would like to see that D series in action though, just let me know

you should race a slightly more modded mr2 that is tuned. That would be a good race. I think i did pretty good considering I am 17 runing on stop turbo.

paul your car isnt slow, i ran some bosnian kids with a car like yours it had a chipped ECU turboback exhaust some intake and some bov, he told me about the ECU being chipped or reflashed (i dont know shit about VW) and popped the hood and i saw the rest.. i pulled him on top end but befoer 100mph it was dead even.. oh this was in the Z.. in the STi the kid would have stood 0 chances
