    Default HOLY SH!T LIMEWIRE

lol i rarely use limewire, I mainly use torrents or whatever but i find it kinda stupid to download an entire discography for one song

so yeah I fired up limewire... downloaded a song... so I hit preview while it was downloading to make sure it wasn't one of those screechers ... and BAAM i get a blue screen a split second after I click it.... i was like HOLY SH!T

I NEVER EVER use limewire, I never EVER get bluescreens , my computer then turns off and restarts and says windows has recovered from a serious error

lolol i guess no more limewire for me lirl

and this isn't one of those downloading is stealing threads, suck a nut

Dang, that's what I normally use for music downloads. What other choices are there that are relatively safe?

    I highly reccomend Soulseek.

The interface is a little weird at first, but I listen to some pretty out there, underground **** and can always find it on there. Not to mention the program has never ****ed my comp like all the spyware filled programs like limewire.

I've given up on limewire... you never know what you are downloading despite what the file name is... I use bittorrent and the website thepiratebay.org and have never downloaded anything fake or a virus. It may take a bit longer to download something but IMO it's worth it.

i use limewire. never had any problems. just check the file size before you download it to make sure you're not downloading a song that's 220kb or something outrageous lol.

thats why you look at the file size. those kinds of ads are only like 1xxkb. if you see that, dont download it. simple as that.

i think downloading full things is for torrents and lime wire for single songs. but when your useing limewire, dont just download the first thing that pops up. and make sure the size is about right of a song.

Just select the files you DON'T want to download, right click, and select do not download or its equivalent (depends on your client).

BitTorrent ftw, and if I can't find something I'm looking for on tracker sites, I'll go wandering around IRC.

Well, with bittorrent, there are files with the extension .torrent that the program uses to find other people that have the entire file(s) or people that are downloading it. Tracker sites like isohunt and mininova (currently one of the best trackers imo) simply store the .torrent files and information about the files they are connected with. Then you search the tracker site for what you are looking for, find a .torrent file that fits the description you want, then download the .torrent file to whatever BitTorrent program (client) you use. The client will then download the file.

    Also:
Seeders - people that have the entire file
Leechers - people that are also downloading the file, but do not have the entire thing.
