back when i had psp (about a year ago) they would programs you can run on the psp then open up an older firmware and install it using the program so you could play copied games. I would assume there has been many new firmware updates since then but im sure if you looked around you could find a tutorial
    http://www.psp-hacks.com/ try looking there

    here is what you do

download the newest firmware onto your memorystick,

perform the upgrade. While its upgrading turn off the psp. This will **** up the firmware comepletely and pernamently

message ep9716 and ask him to reflash your firmware to 1.5, from 1.5 go to the newer custom firmwares. READ the warnings on them though. there are some won't work with the slim. The slim firmware is kind of different cause it has more stuff in it than the og psps

well techniquely downgrading is kind of like messing up the firmware

the slims come with either 3.6 or 3.71 firmware which has no downgrader at the moment,

the only way to downgrade it is to actually brick it and bring back the firmware with pandoras battery,

then from there you reflash new firmware
