I've always had a scanner and the last 4 years or so an in-car camera. There are no laws against either. I know in Georgia the officers mics are wired to the in-car camera's recorder and all marked patrol cars have cameras. It protects both the officer and citizens. The videos are public information too
I always loved officers that acted like asses, simply ask to speak to their supervisor or captain and if they are truly out of line it will be resolved rather quickly. Normally with a have a nice day.

The kid was completely within his legal rights to say what he did and not answer certain questions. The cop explodes and threatens him with charges then fabricates lies about the preceding events. I'm not arguing about the kid's right, merely how he handled the situation. Did the cop do anything? No. Would he have had he not learned about the camera? Only he knows that. I'm not saying we should just bend over and take anything cops, but what occurred on the video is understandable (for the most part). The officer has a responsibility to protect the kid and himself.
