    Default **Critique my beats**

If you're bored of course and like listening to peoples creations

I've had fruity loops and a couple other programs for about 3-4yrs now but never really knew how to work with them until January this year (thanks to college roomate). Been making beats ever since, even sold a bit of them, so lemme know what you think, if you're bored of course

Every one that has {intrumental} by it, is of course, just the beat, no vocals...Most of the songs w/ vocals were done so people could understand how to work with my beats since they're different from what a lot of people hear...

Also, if you have a sub on your computer system, you may have to play around with it on different songs, as I haven't mastered my bass drums yet

Again thanks, and I can take the good and super ugly, I'm all ears and won't take anything to heart

Not working for me. Tells me about a pop up blocker and my computer warns me and I have no warning. Later, QD.

Just a Trip - the whoosh sound I could do without, the main(louder horn sound) could be softened up....otherwise very nice nod your head track - 4/5

Don't Freeze - Much to slow for my tastes, I'd like a bit more if it was faster - 2.5/5

    Temptation - Not liking it at all(sorry) - 1/5

He's Real - rapid-fire drum beats could be brought up on the volume(too low), just not enough ummph in this - 2/5

Completion - Not bad concept, just too damn slow for me - 3/5

Complaint - I am liking this one, I think I hear the hand clap in there, I'd like the insertion of that, you know where I'm talking about.....i can picture a decent flowing rhyme with this - 4/5

Straight Fire - The warped sound would be good in the chorus(which I think it may be already?), I like the flow of this one, not bad at all - 3/5

Contradiction - The orchestra is a little loud for my taste, otherwise not bad - 2.5/5

Off Beat - Starts off great, if you can get the transition from the first high to low to fade in instead of cut in, this would be nice through and through, this would be a good track for a Nas type rapper - 3.5/5

Ain't No Stoppin Me - Not really into it at all - 1/5

You's A Fake - This is ok, nothing really "jump at ya" with this, again too slow for me - 2/5

Like You - At first, with the cymbals, I thought you were off balance and then I found the pattern(not bad), another Nas track, nice and even flow style rap to this - 2.5/5

BabaBoom - The track name is misleading, I figured this was going to come out hard and heavy and it was pretty much the opposite, just a slow, rhythmic melody - 2/5

Deadly Choices - not a bad melody, something to just kind of ride around with, I could see a Common or Mos Def putting voice to this - 3/5

LudaFied - It's not too bad, it's something I could possibly get used to, - 2.5/5

Get Crunk To It - 2/5

    Offbeat - 2.5/5

I can't believe I actually sat and listened to every track. Lolol. Honestly, I don't care for this type of music, but I can recognize a good job in it's form. Too, me there is to much "orchestra" sound to just about every beat. I'm not much into slow paced rap music, either. A lot of these might sound better with a faster pace or if parts were faster. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were from the North and trying to combine a little South with that. I'm strictly West Coast and have never really liked the East Coast sound. Overall I think you did a good job. Props to you because you sure did a whole lot more than I could, lolol. I also think that profile pic is awesome with the light playing just down over you and the A being illuminated. Later, QD.

Good looking bro! Always good to hear from a vet in the music world! And thanks for taking the time to listen to all of them! You get the jist of each within the first 2min and yea, they are more orchestral than anything! A lot of locals said I'd do good making patterns for George Lucas movies haha.

But seriously thanks for all of that man! As far as taste goes for my music......

I have a lot of deepness to it. So if someone wanted to talk about something serious with a beat that backed that up, I'd think of my stuff to go to it. Like put an old pastor troy deepness/seriousness into my beat and you can feel it. I feel yo on the westcoast tip so I know what I'm saying flys over your head haha! Take it easy though man

Yessir. No problem. I forgot to add that just about everyone of those had a sort of modern hip hop feel to them not rap. That's why I mentioned Mos Def or Common and the likes of them. And that first track, Just a Trip, was my definite favorite. It was real nice. Later, QD.

^^ My newest and also my favorite in the line up! Common would definately throw a sick message in it. When I get back to school i'll upload some from my roomate, he's from longbeach and got stuck out here when he had to move in with his pops 8yrs ago! Still has westcoast in his 6lood though!

you have talent, but other than your drum layers which are great, the other layers sound like B movie samples.

Get some better samples and make it deeper, harder, darker.

It definitely has potential, just please stray away from the typical hip hop formula of consistent melody and beat through out the track.

try working all of your tracks into one track, I think that would sound awesome.

I played to 1st. 5 tracks, I could tell you spent some time on them

But the DRUMS (I'm a drummer) sounds sounded the same on every track

that I played, it maybe the programs you are using only have so many sounds?

I could see why you were able sale some of them, you did a good
    job!!

    Thanks for all that!

And, SrCrX, Sadly I don't have a lot of drum options. Just a simple BD that you can tweak a little through plug-ins. I don't know how to make a constant drum note, only those deep hits...soon though, soon..

ehhh, they don't suck but are nowhere near good either. Learn to count your bars and work on song structure... 8 bar intro, 16 bar verses... etc... And don't depend on Fruity loops, untill you expand out of Fruity Loops everything will sound the same. Might just be me, but anything built on Fruity Loops all sounds like a cheap casio keyboard to me. Unless your name is 9nth Wonder, Fruity Loops is a pretty weak program. Gotta chill out on those Miami booty hi-hats as well... good luck and keep workin.

since you said that you have no idea what can be done with fruit loops when you use it right...

Fruity Loops is entry leve; but they have some pretty expensive plug-ins that lift it out of that phase. I do know what you mean though. I've been trying to jump onto Reason 3 but the download is huge.

Also, as far as the hihats and snares go, I'm learning to get out of them, but being southern bred, most of my songs don't sound complete without em lol.

    Thanks for feedback

Edit: Also, the songs are all in perfect pattern for 8bar chorus's and 16bar verses....Intro's and outro's have no limit

I think it has good potential. Dan used to make beats. His are way more tech-step/jungle like. He likes that hardcore shit.

We have Pro-tools, and MPC and Triton keyboard for sale if you're interested...and a Neuman mic and 2 Mackie speakers
