Default problems problems problems wtF.. !! HELP

okay .. just recently purchased a 95 LS.. manaul blah blah.. okay.

2 weeks ago.. drove it to myrtle beach .. and back no problems except that whenever I'm going like 80mph and going up a hill it will dramatically drop to like 60mph .. and if the hill is long enough it will drop into lower mph.. and it has happened.. what the hell yall think it is.. I already got some help from some folks.. and did a compression test. and reads

190-180-180-190 from piston 1-4 left to right

no smoking, oil is fine, & plus if driven hard to 4500rpm theres this slapping/ticking shit going on inside the head.. and just out of curiosity went in there and did a valve adjustment... and the blah/blah ticking/ shit still there..! and so 4 weeks now, feels like i'm losing power and sure is.. i'd be happy to hit 65mph now.. only when going down hill.. but up hill i mean it aint no steep hill i'm talking about spagitti junction 285 - 85 ramp only.. and it will just drop dramatically .. like bammmm .. so this past week i've been driving like granny.. but petal to the metal .. stock box air intake loud like shit.. but aint going no where.. too much air not enough gas, or too much gas not enough air.. and it would bogg on the hwy as well..i've already changed out plugs/wire/rotor button/timing belt, .. so i'm guessing it goes down to the fuel system??

injector/fuel pump/fuel filter.. lmk what yall think..

sounds like a air or fuel problem. have you checked to see if the cat is clogged up? how about the fuel filter?

    its the mopst obvious answer.

if the motor sounds healthy, then the clutch could be FRIED IE not grabbing IE not pulling your car anywhere

go to a 1st gear pull to redline, snatch second gear an see if it barks the tires. if it doesnt, and it lags, sounds like a clutch to me

if the speedo goes up but the tires arent spinning , clutch is gone

speedo going up but tires not spinning= broken axles. Please watch your advice because there are a lot of newbs out there!!

A weak clutch will slip from torque not horsepower, no need to go to redline.

That bitchslapping you speak of could be caused from bad gas or timing too high.

no offense mr. 3 posts, but i think i know what im talking about.

Of course if the car goes NOWHERE but the speedo climbs its a broken axle, but if you would have read, that is not this guys case. the car actually DRIVES, so, if it wont climb itself up a hill and downshifting still causes it to DECREASE SPEED, then its USUALLY a clutch.

hmm .. bad gas.. i've stuck with unleaded since day one .. when i got the car.. and drop in a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner, & timing is not right dead on. but just needs prolly like 0.062" off thats it..............

and yessh speedo going up but tires not spining yall speak of, I had that incident before.. but nothing broken my axle just popped out of place.. because of a busted.. ring.. on axle. but

to my scenario.. i'm stiLL clueless to find out my problem.. but i'ma take out tranny this weekend and find out then.. becuz i have too much time in hand..

anything else.. i should look into lmk .. besides that .. the tranny is coming off this weekend.. then..

If you know what you are talking about master technician, than why did you say that the speedo would go up with out the tires spinning. Last time I checked they are directly connected. If in fact the clutch was slipping the RPMS would sky rocket, and speed would not.

PS: Maybe if I make a few more posts I will understand the transmissions design, and how it works.

im not sure what you mean by timing is off .062. timing should be checked with a timing light which measures in degrees.

he said that he hears a god awful noise at 4500rpms. if his motor is rod knocking, then the car would have no power , because a ROD is HITTING the CRANKshaft

Find someone close to you that knows about motors... That sound could be a Number of things..(Rod Knock, Detnation,Valvetran,WristPin, Etc...) If you don't have anyone close then try to post a Video, Or sound Clip.. Maybe then someone on here can help... ... We can't hear the Noise so we have to Guess... .. Loss of power also could be a number of things... That Noise could be the main Cause... :boobies: .. Later !!

like I said, before you take the tranny out, check the little stuff. I.E. catalytic converter, fuel filter, muffler, etc.

have you actually seen him turn some wrenches or just assume. What if you payed a shop to put a clutch in your car when you needed a fuel filter?

its cool, we have to do all our old british bikes that way. they just give us .000" measurements of BTDC. gotta get it say .026" btdc and lock down the advance/retire mechanism. same thing with boyeur ignitions. ducatis, some hondas, lots of dirtbikes, etc.

take your car to the dealer or another shop that knows what they are doing. youre more than likely making the issue worse or doing damage to your vehicle.
