I am using a 10.2MP Sony a100 D-SLR Camera and when I am at Road Atlanta I use a 100-300mm zoom-- which is magnified to 150-450mm since it was originally designed for use on my Minolta Maxxum7000 SLR.

Yeah Justin was smokin that Evo until he blew his motor during the second session. Overheated and wasnt watching the gauges. Locked the motor right up.

If you volunteer to work during the weeking, its free.

If you dont want to volunteer or dont have time, then its $100, plus you get an instructor...

It's still 300mm no matter what. Your sensor crops it, there is no magnification.

mmm I dont think so, Jason. (it is Jason, right?)

A 50mm on my Minolta SLR is different than on my DSLR.

That and I have read that info in various places and the folks @ Wolf told me that too...

    Is everyone wrong?

Would you take any technical car advice from a car salesman or porter? Basically the same principal. At Wolf, with the exception of those who are photographers basically there as a second job for the steady pay are normally the only people you want any advice from from...and even then it's sketchy. The rest are salesman.

Film and full frame camera's compared to our small format camera's that have a crop factor both shoot at the exact same magnification. If you take the same picture from each and overlay them at 100% you will see this, the only differance is a camera that has a crop factor records a smaller portion of the image giving it the APPEARANCE of a larger picture. It's called a 'crop factor' for a reason, there is no such thing as magnification factor and there is NO magnification -- so yes, anyone that thinks that IS wrong. A 300mm is a 300mm is a 300mm...Focal length is focal length, period.

I can give you literally HUNDRED's of links from the most knowledgeable photographers in the world explaining this:

The blue rectangle represents the image area recorded on the 10D sensor. There is no magnification; it's just a smaller portion of the same image.
