Default 350z in the top 3 deadliest cars

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the 350Z has the third-highest death rate of any car on the road built 2001-2004.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18184616/

I can see why, with some lasting only two days on the streets before being split in half by a tree.

    http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=195624

Only the 2WD/2-door Blazer and RSX had a greater thirst for blood. Remind me never to try and insure one of these hooliganmobiles.

The 350Z was one of the deadliest by the numbers. One of the very safest? Get ready for the irony...Infiniti G35!

Maybe it's not the car then, but the mindset of the buyer.

Must be the drivers. They said the G35 was one of the safest. The 350Z and G35 are twins, for one to be super safe and one a death trap, has to be the drivers.

G35 > 350z imo. has that luxurious "ill tap that ass if you mess with me" look. the 4 door can suck a dick though.

Do they mean the G35 Sedan or Coupe?

I agree though...I think it comes down to the crowd, not the car.

When you target market is buying the car for the specific purpose of driving it around corners with the wheels spinning, then yeah, wrecks are gonna happen. I wonder where the 240 is on that list

the bad thing is when I priced insurance before buying my car it was cheaper on the 350z. When I asked why I was told "because the srt is a turbo" so I think they will always have a reason to boost insurance rates up.

it is.. the drivers aren't, the deaths you see from Zs are ones that are wraped around poles and not even near the road when they wreck, usually in peices. ill try to find some horrible pictures of wrecked Z's on my350 where the driver walked away, there's alot of them.

    Of course it's the drivers.

I looked at an RSX-S about 3 years ago and literally laughed out loud on the insurance quote.

that test is based on death/car #'s.

both the g35 and 350z scored practically the same on this crash test magazine i haev in my hands right now.

so whats up? the 350z is just involved in mroe accidents. the g35 is usually bought by middle aged men and women. the 350z is bought by men in their 40's for their 18 yr old sons or daughters.

350Z has higher death vs. the G because your average 350Z owner is probably younger and more likely to drive fast and take risks (less cautious/mature).

Also I think because the Z handles and brakes so good, it gives drivers a sense of being on rails, and when they actually do find the limit and exceed it, the car breaks away so suddenly and quickly they find themselves in the trees/ditches/oncoming traffic etc. before they know it.

well the Z is a newer car. its the best handling car nissan has brought to the US. people are used to sport coupes/convertibles such as the S2000 and Porsche Boxter and such... i have found all these cars grip excellently.. however the 350z requires a slightly more conservative driver, people bash its understeer because they drive it like a porsche or a s2000.. its not a torqueless car and its not exceptionally light you CANNOT throw it violently into turns. you can hold alot of turns in porsches and s2000's @ WOT.. the 350z spins tires badly once it begins to oversteer @ times forcing you to let off the throttle and the car straightens and understeers again. i have found these two tire sizes to work the best. 245/45/18's all around. or if you prefer (usually people with aftermarket wheels) 235/45 front 255/45 rear or 245 fronts and 275 rears. IMHO the 350z recommended tire size is wrong period. the G35 is a 230lb heavier car. and most of this weight is in the rear.. which in the end actually makes the G35 seem like a better balanced car when indeed its not.

neway, like those who posted the same sentiment before me, it's more so the drivers versus the vehicles themselves.
