Look up the research the the North Texas Prelude Owners Group does/is doing, they have to redo it often since all manufacturers continuously change everything...

...it's probably your best source for filters, and as for using OEM filters, what's a couple dollars spread out over the time frame of an oil change?
With stuff like like that i will spend the extra bit for O.E stuff. Its what is supposed to be on the car
there have been several oil filter horror stories especially pertaining to fram oil filters, on hondas specifically it is well worth running the OEM filter.
:boobies:
...a couple years ago honda changed the size of their filters to bump up the oil pressure a little bit and not all the aftermarket filters have followed.
You can get a case of OEM filters at a discount or you can order the green HAMP filters for much less than stock. I have not personally tested them though.
how many filters are in a case?

appreciate the post guys...i'm sticking with the OEM filters from Honda
OEM is what i used for years, until i splurged for the first time (and paid the 13 bucks) on a K&N filter.
My oil doesn't turn black quite as fast as it used to now.

blackening just means the oil is breaking down...that has nothing to do with the filter.Originally Posted by hatch77

you think thats bad, the sr20det and sr20de use the same oil filter. the only difference is the det runs about 40 psi higher than the de. so the det needs a convexed filter and fram only builds concaved. i blew a fram oil filter off my motor so hard it put a dent in the filter and left a paint scrape on the frame. i use a mobil 1 filter now.
