I dont think this is political....

anyhow , all the ones that i know that are actual Vegan's are constantly on the virge of death because they found out that the little pills you can take to help you with it had some type of gelatin that is made of animal fat so now they wont take them.... you know the same fat that is used to make life savers..

sorry but its a bit extreme to be a real vegan.

nah i believe it is political because most people that i have talked to who are vegan/vegetarian do it because of their beliefs in animal rights (which is political).
plus i think that people in the food section wouldnt take it as serious a debate as people would here

And i suppose since im here responding to a topic i normally wouldnt ill go ahead and take it to the next level. If you claim to be a Vegan and you dont grow everything on your own land and prepare it yourself you are just as bad as anyone else. there are helpless field animals killed and then processed into the products that vegans eat. how many animal carcuss's are removed from the wheat processing plan each year? How many innocent animals are mangled and crushed by farm equipment each year just so they can produce vegitables for us?

honestly i dont care... i love real food

lol- Hulud, healthy is an understatement. You are right though. I know everyone has seen a few vegetarians on the chunky side- and I suspect that is because people will switch over.

I used to be vegetarian for years but I eat chicken and fish now. I still can't stand beef and pork.

    now for my stance

wear this shirt to whole foods and watch the hilarity ensue

seriously, one could argue it is not so much a political stance, but maybe a lifestyle or belief stance. It is a healthy way to live, and I dated a vegan for awhile. She had a nice shape.

    i'm not completely a vegetarian.
    I eat chicken and fish.
I have never had any type of red meat in my life period.
My parents stop eating read meat about 30 yrs ago long before I was born, so that lifestyle just went along with me and my sis.

I don\'t consume beef anymore. I\'ve replaced it with Bison. Heck of a lot leaner. Most of you should be more concerned with Mad Cow after the infection discovered in Texas. It may not have entered the food chain, as the Agriculture dept. but I don\'t trust them.

This is a serious question and not meant as inflamatory: Why do vegeterian people have different "levels" of being vegetarian???? It seems kinda odd to me that you can ride the fence, yet still label yourself as vegetarian.

BTW, my sister-in-law is vegetarian, although she does eat certain white meats every once in a while. Again, something I don't truly understand.

If someone is being a vegeterian for health reasons, I get that. Low fat diets, stay away from greasy meats....I get that. What I don't get are the politically motivated vegetarians. I don't quite understand their ideology.

Someone please explain that to me.

Because for many, being vegetarian/vegan is a political statement, not a nutritional/health statement.

^^ I realized what I asked after I posted it lol. IMO there are other ways to demonstrate political devotion, so that escaped me. I know many Vegans, but most practice for health reasons. Ever see milk under a microscope? LoL...

I shop at Wholefoods and it does get expensive, but the chicks that shop there are HOT. Tofu is not expensive...lol. I changed from regular milk to soy milk after doing a some reseach on bloodclots left behind after pasteurization.
