Default Releasing and renewing an IP

So my brother's laptop is connecting to my router but won't go online. I release the IP. Checked it and it registered all 0's for the IP and when I try to renew it, it times out. Any fix for this or alternative methods to renew an IP?

Its a wireless connection. An IP shows up but I was saying it shows all 0's once I release the IP but won't renew itself

    Is the wireless connection secured?
Does the settings inside the router allow for another computer to connect? (is the IP range wide enough)
Have you restarted the wireless router?

Yes yes yes. Everything can connect to the router besides the laptop so I already know its not the router. Question is about getting another IP on the laptop to replace the one that it seems to be locked on

Everything that you said was stuff that I already knew to question or even tried already and I'm horrible with technology.

Problem was solved with the help from my friend Zeek

Usually if its a security issue you can check the packet count on the interface. If you're connecting to a secured network it will show transmitted packets but 0 received. More than likely it wasn't communicating with the dhcp server properly.
