    Default oh lord now what?

ok well i think the 89 carbed accord is sick...
this ole'girl never gave me any problems till today. i think the original carburator has about had it. she runs great but after drivin 2o minutes everytime u hit the clutch it almost instantly cuts off, which is scary in turns or intersections while ur downshifting. of course she cranks right back up or u can pop the clutch but its like the floats stuck or maybe she just wore out and tired idont know any suggestions or does it sound like im on the money with the carb bein shot? anyone got one or know where to get one cheap?

might just be one of the vac lines, its got a lot, check al the ones going to carb and c if one has hole or crack or came off. i had same prob wit my 89 accord lke ten years ago. if not u can rebuild urself cheaper than getting a new one.

I believe the late 80" honda carbs were made by Solex. Sounds like you have a clogged idle jet. I KNOW for a fact you can get a rebuilt kit for your carb for about $75. If you rebuild it you should be good to go. Seeing how the carb is nearly 20 years old, the gross jet and pins are probably worn out.

Here is a link for a Rebuild kit:

I just got done rebuilding three Solex's for my Volvo. The Royze kits are good, but it helps to have an exploded view of the carb. One other thing to check when you take off the carb, look at the springs that hold the set screws for ilde and throttle position. if these are really soft or broken, replace them. Worn out ones let the screws vibrate loose and change the setup for the carb.
