Import Alliance Spring 2009 Meet – Atlanta (International AllStars Documentary)

Words by - Tony Nguyen AKA CarbonGS

On April 26th, 2009 Atlanta became host to one of the largest Meets in the South East. Created as a outlet for those who appreciate the grassroots of the car modifying industry. There is everything available for viewing from stock factory form cars to the extreme show competition vehicles you see at shows such as HIN, DUB, and SEMA. There are even weekend warriors present with their home built drift and autocross cars. “One thing that they all have in common is an uncanny understanding of quality workmanship, as well as a desire to utilize the best parts that their budgets will accommodate,” Says the Import Alliance Crew.

Their past events have had impressive participation. In 2006 their first event brought in over 700 cars and approximately 1,500 people and numbers have increased to exceed 1900 cars and approximately 4000 people with attendees coming form more than 30 states!

This year International AllStars was present along side Import Alliance to represent the South East’s modified car demographic. It was a very fun trip for all of us as it also brought together our team that is separated most of the year due to having members in other states. Having the chance to come together and show off our rides without the worries of having to clean the cars and get them judge ready was definitely a great perk however we made sure that we represented as this event to our fullest since it was in our backyard!

So, come along as we document the day from before, during, and after the event – the International AllStars way!

We met up at the local Gwinnett County BP gas station off of I-85 at Pleasant Hill to roll out at 8AM.

Around 8:30 Pete and I started heading down to the Georgia Dome/Georgia World Congress Center Parking Garage to locate our reserved parking and to start setting up.

Before everyone got to the meet!

Once the place filled up, It filled up!!!

We were given prime parking attached to the Import Alliance group so we took our time in setting up and making sure that everything was just right!

After setting up our rides we took some time to rest before walking around to see what everybody brought to the meet!

Nico’s pet snake was a huge hit at this meet!

Ok where is the marathon for the Carlton Banks look-a-likes?

We just got there and he was already taking a smoke break!

Does Tony’s cousin’s glasses make me look more sophisticated?

If I had a Honda I bet they’d love it too!

Things were starting to come together

The camera and the guy who takes way better pictures than me! One day!

Some attempts at artsy fartsy pics

    Dare I say VIP?

We saw this guy buy and install a set of wheels at the meet!

Zeek was asked to come down for a photoshoot on the lower level! We tagged along and got these pictures!

Cars were still rollin in deep later in the day!

    Supercharged Z

    Interesting bumpers

    Clean engine bay!

Scions were there in full force

We took a lunch break and hit up the CNN center downtown where we found Don Juan for lunch.

All this food for how many pesos?

This picture clearly shows the size of the plate compared to the size of my cousins’ heads.

Pete, you are my hero! I only finished 75% and most of you know how much I can eat!

Look at Yousef trying to stiff the bill on Alex lol

We got back from lunch and found what seemed to be GT-R Alley

    A few more

    This one is for Alvin!

Before we all left and everyone else left Pete found this back drop for pictures! I pulled out the camera again and we took each one of our cars over and snapped a few pics. Here are the results.

    Pete’s MazdaSpeed3

    Bing’s GS300 Turbo!

    My ride!

    Bucky’s new whip!

    GotPurp?

    Alex’s friend’s NSX

    Nico’s Dodge Stratos

Nico’s snake is very photogenic! I swear she was posing for the camera!

Alex’s NSX is full of win!

Alex, Pete, and I were asked to go down stairs and partake in a photo shoot someone was doing for the event. We drove our cars down and took some shots of them taking pictures of our cars.

VIP parking outside of Cho Won Korean BBQ Buffet!

That sushi never stood a chance! All in one bite too! I knew you were part ninja!

    My first plate of sushi!

    Haha Alvin can multitask!

Bing doesn’t look too good in this pic!

Dayum girl, I knew you could eat but dayum!

    Alex getting chop sticked!

    Nico and his lovely wife

    When are you expecting Bucky?

This is what happens to you after 3 plates of sushi, 2 plates of meat, and then some!

We even try to show off our rides after dinner

    Bing’s Lychee Suno treat

That’s all folks! Lol had to put Pete at the end! haha

Big thanks goes out to all the people at Import Alliance for putting together such a well organized meet and to all of those who came out to support the event! See everyone at the next Import Alliance Meet coming this summer at the Nashville Super Speedway, and at the fall meet in Nashville as well!

my cousins took a lot of the pics in the parking deck so i had to super edit them to make them work, so blurry and out of focus. I think i am gonna give them my point and shoot to take pics and me stick to the dslr lolz.
