Let me ask you this FAG since you looked at the dash for the vin number, have you checked to see if it matches under the hood on the body, or other parts of the chassis where a vin might be placed at? And even then, who said the car could've ever been reported? Maybe the car was abandoned and the whole time you're looking for a title, he never filed for a lost title search, which legally takes about 3 months for the whole process to go down due to the multiple steps which has to go down.
