A routine traffic stop in Acworth ended with police busting a suspected auto theft ring.
William Maker set off a brief police when he sped away from a traffic stop about 9 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer Wayne Dennard.
Maker jumped out of the car and was arrested a short time later behind Acworth Transmission following a foot chase, Dennard said.
Maker, who was employed at the transmission business, was charged with driving a stolen auto, posession of a firearm and other charges, Dennard said.
Investigators later discovered three other stolen cars inside the business located in the 440 block of South Main Street, Dennard said.
Owner Shawn Johnson and his wife Catherine Johnson were arrested and charged with theft by receiving and obstructing an investigation, Dennard said.
Investigators ask that anyone information about the thefts call them at 770-974-3111.
