If any of you own a Nikon D70/70s/50/200 this lens is a definite must have for an all around carry lens! It's a lot better than the standard 18-70mm kit lens and only half an inch or so bigger in length. I just bought the 18-200VR lens a week ago, and I finally used it. The VR does work as advertised. You are able to take pictures handheld 4 stops lower with the VR feature without the need for a tripod. I am very happy and impressed with the lens. VR was turned on for most of the shots. If you don't know, VR stands for vibration reduction. There is a motor inside the lense to counteract any movement to reduce blur at slow shutter speeds. This lens is SICK! The bad part is the lens is about $750! But technically, you are getting two lenses in one and the VR feature alone is worth it.
