Default Can you see the problem here????

Friend of mine asked me to change his brakes on his explore today because he has no tools. I stopped and grabbed some pads for it and after work headed over to his house. I started on the passenger side and it went good. Went to the driver side and about feel over when I saw this.

The rear pad was ground down so bad it fell out of the caliper and the caliper piston was rubbing on the disk.
    But wait it gets better.....

I rotated the disk and found this.

Needless to say it needs a new disk and we have to find the hex tool to remove the crappy auto locking hubs that ford used. His 4x4 doesn't work because of theses stupid hubs. But thats another project.

I'm not sure what that is but I believe its the plastic shield under the explore that has been dragged down the road under the truck.

Heres the disk and pad that came off.

I have no idea why my camera over exposed them.

I dropped the disk after we got it all back together and the disk just shattered. I can't believe the guy was driving around with his brakes so bad.

That rotor looks like my Titan's passenger rear did after that brake locked up at 85mph pulling a 20' enclosed trailer on 85.

Nope its his only DD and it drives 60miles a day 5 days a week. I guess he just ignored the scraping sound until the brake locked up on him when it spit what was left of the brake pad out.
