Default Canon instroduces new 15 Megapixel Rebel -

    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=18385

The new dSLR camera is called the T1i and it is an upgraded version of the Canon Xsi that was introduced last year.

The new features this one has are:
    • HD Video record mode
    • 15.1 Megapixel photos
    • HDMI port

MSRP is $799 for just the camera body, $899 for the body with a kit lens (18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS)

That is pretty expensive, IMO. Especially for the lens you get with it (which is decent, but not spectacular)

Hmmm...that body is tempting. Don't need lenses.

I love the compact size of the Rebels and would really like to have the HD video. I'll have to take a look at some reviews.

There are only 2 things I would want out of the Rebel body that it doesn't do

    1. More frames per second in photo burst mode (3.5 is ok, but has its limitations when taking photos of fast action)

    2. PC sync port. Not that I would use it more than a few times, but it would eliminate the need to spend ~$60 on adapters and cables (or be forced to get a 550ex/580ex flash)

15 Megapixel is a whole lot for a crop sensor.

its an entry level dslr. face it, it has its limitations, but that's the market canon is going for.

i wish i had skipped the whole "rebel" series all together. I would have opted for a 40d right from the get go. But lots of people have no fucking clue how to operate a camera. they don't know how the shutter and aperture work together. they want the feel of a bigger camera than a p&s, and they shoot on auto. This said, sure there are lots of people that DO know how to work a camera, but I think the majority of people that own rebels don't.

3.5 is better than a P&S, which most people would own before buying this camera.

the same people think more MP=better so they see 15 MP and go "daaaaamn that mean its a really good camera"

15MP+HD video in an entry level DSLR....good marketing by canon
