    Default Taken for granted

So who here gets their services taken for granted? By family, friends, business. Do they expect you to shoot for free all the time? I have run across this on a couple of occasions and usually piss them off when I tell them my rates.

But on a serious note, when do you draw the line? Or do you? And this is open to all photogs even the newbies.

And the title was because I couldn't find my thread. It was moved but not sure why, I was talking about photography.

the biggest issue i have had so far is doing a 7 person family shoot for a close friend of many years. the mom was paying for it and i cut them a HUGE discount and even at that price she was shocked to hear what i would charge, i had to fight to get 1/2 my normal rate for that shoot and then i was rushed, they were EXTREMELY picky and got really upset i wasnt able to pull off 1 shot but i got the other 16 they wanted.

from now on unless it is a special occasion(like my nieces 1st birthday party last week) i will not shoot for free even for family. its been too many times people have bitched about the amount of photos they get for free or 1/2 price.

but maybe thats just my family LOL
