Default Best Point And Shoot? (xmas gift help)

So my wife had a casio exilim 6mp and it was ok:

    pros:
    - thin
    - easy to use menus
    - nice size screen
    - battery life
    - zoom

    cons:
    - picture quality
    - features (lack of)
    - auto photo settings

I want to buy her a new cam for Xmas... here are a few i was looking at but i want to know your opinions. here are the ones i've been reading about: Sony Cyber-shot W300, Panasonic Luminx DMC-LX3 , Nikon Coolpix S710, etc

    Mainly looking for:

    - compact size
    - nice screen (touch is a plus)
    - GOOD picture quality (w/ auto settings)
    - good battery
    - easy menus
    - cool features

post up what you think would be a good option i would like to keep it under 500$

Hey paul, the canon would probably be nice, they make great point and shoots and it has good reviews on dpreview. have you checked out www.dpreview.com ? they have tons of reviews and tests and comparisons.

canon makes GREAT P&S cameras. dont get caught up in all the megapixle bullshit either. unless you and the wife will be printing pictures larger than 8x10's dont let anybody tell you you need anything bigger than 6 megapixles.

this seams like a good deal....

i totally agree with that, i'd also suggest trying to get the most OPTICAL zoom you can too, dont even look at digital zoom, just turn that junk off - LOL
